Now that the Yanks are being named i thought it would be nice to hear who everyones favourite Polish riders were, for my money they were always entertaining and sometimes very unpredictable.

My top three are Marek Cieslak-WHITE CITY,Edward Jancarz-WIMBLEDON and Toni Kasper-HACKNEY.

Piotr Pynszny ? - Rode for Halifax and crashed at Wolves, knocking half the floodlights out and the meeting had to be called off.

Marek Cieslak was a favourite and liked Plech and Jancarz but the classic Pole during the 70's was Jerzy Kowalski who arrived at Wolves as a promising young talent. He turned out to be about 40, wore a terrible wig and found it hard to do four laps without falling.

He didn't last too long, but at Wolves he will always be rememered.

The only thing you could accuse Edward Jancarz(Wimbledon) of was unpredictable about when he was going to arrive at the start of each season. Once here you realised why he was called Steady Eddie.

If you wanted thrills and spills Zenon Plech or Andy the whoosh(his name was lots of zys's) at Hackney.

Pity Edmund Migos never rode in the BL - he was their most entertaining and hardest (and sometimes, frightening!) rider of all.

I remember this remarkable guy riding for the Polish test teams in Britain back in the mid-sixties. He had a few off-track specialties too. The most famous was in the changing rooms at Old Meadowbank where he climbed to the rafters and dived into three inches of water.
