Shocking decision.

I only had camera angles on TV to look at, so do not know what ref based his decision on. Definitely NOT Nicki Pedersen at fault this time. However think that inexperience of Emil coupled with the track conditions caused the incident. Nicki had plenty of room to pass inside, but as he went under Emil the latter decided to turn left and caught Nickis back wheel. Anyway that is what Sky TV showed

I thought it was a tough call...I think there were legitimate reason for excluding either on but my first instinct was that Pedersen was at fault.

Here lies the issue!!

It was my first instinct too.

And according to Pearson, the ref reacted straight away and had the blue(?) light on straight away!!

Maybe the ref went with his instinct and made the call before the replays - on first viewing it looked totally all Ped!!

Unlucky Nicki - But what goes around comes around!!

QUOTE (Rob B @ May 30 2009, 11:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
As I said in other thread feel tiny bit sorry for Pedersen as think Emil was at fault BUT Pedersen is the grandmaster of doing the move you described, looking over when being pased then moving in on the rider to make contact then fall off, he has done it so many times.

I wouldn't disagree, but even if Nicki invented the tactic it doesn't make it right. I would think the same about this incident whether it was NP or another rider; I am not much of a Nicki fan anyway, but not a member of the hate club either. It just annoys me when ref's allow themselves to be conned by such blatantly obvious moves.

.5-All in all Emil knew exactly what he was doing riders like Hancock,Adams wouldnt of bailed out and we have to stamp riders doing this now as i said its creeping in more and more.

Exactly my point........

Who cares the biggest cheat of them all lost out...

Super, great, lets have more of it, run the Dirty Dane out of town.

Totaly agree. Pedersen won, three world titles using these tactics ,why not let Emil win this one :wink: bring on the pantomime.

" he's behind you Emil "

Can't believe anyone can defend Niki here. He clearly steams under Emil but does not then turn, but tries to run Emil out to the fence, effectively he trys a block pass as in Moto GP. There was plenty of room for him to turn but he wanted to ruin Emils line and finish the race there and then. Yes Emil looks across as all riders do, but he does not turn left into Pedersen, Pedersen swings his back wheel into Emils front as he miscalculates his manouvere. Clear as day he takes Emils wheel, correct decision no ifs no buts.

you couldnt be more wrong. Emil went to wide and stayed at the outside line too long.

He should have eased of on throttle to go on the inside of Nicki but he choosed to stay on Nickis outside

after all nicki was first into the bend and therefore should be allowed to choose which line he wants not his fault EMil stayed on the outside.

Obviously he was not WIDE enough then  or Pedersen would not have cleaned up his front wheel as he tried an unsuccessful CLEAN pass. Emil stays on a straight course until Pedersens wheel takes him down.

as ive posted elsewhere this was a VERY difficult decision for the ref but ultimately I think he got it right........ the pass was not clean and it all happened very quickly

I also do not believe that a rider would deliberately cause a crash on one of the fastest tracks in the world at the end of a straight! This is very different to Nicki's addiction to emulating Hans Nielsen's slides off in the first bend when he hasnt gated well

Still having looked at it again beleive Emil was at fault.Theres another fact the way emil was riding with no feet !!! on his foot rests is fine if he wants to ride like that but he only just got back his right leg back on his footrest a split second before the crash,i dont know what Nikki could have done different he hasnt got eyes in the back of his head!!!

you talk as if Nicki didnt know he was there lol!

the simple truth of the matter is that only a second or less before he was behind Emil......Normally in that scenario so close to the entry of the bend the passing rider would cut in more than they normally would and not only would they then clear the rider they havent quite passed yet but they can also control the lead in the coming bends............

ultimately Nicki was caught out once again riding the man rather than the track

Terrible exclusion couldnt believe Nicki was taken out  That referee made a unacceptable mistake.

Better luck next time Nicki. although full credit has to be given to Emil for the way he rode throughout the meeting a world champ in the making.
