PREVIEW OF SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 5

Tuesday May 26th 2009

PIRATERNA - VARGARNA

at Lastpartner Arena, Motala

After crushing Lejonen in the home opener, Piraterna have had two difficult away meetings and two huge losses, so they should be happy to see their home track again. No major changes are made from the line-up which lost in Vetlanda two weeks ago, Emil Sajfutdinov is still unavailable, but the rolling average moves Rafal Okoniewski down to reserve with Daniel Nermark going in the other direction.

Vargarna took a surprising point against Dackarna last week, but have still opted to make a change at reserve where Joe Screen has been replaced by fellow Brit Tai Woffinden.

IKAROS SMEDERNA - INDIANERNA

For Ikaros Smederna, Troy Batchelor is out with a long term injury, giving Krzysztof Buczkowski his second meeting of the season at reserve.

The Indians are also missing one rider due to injury, namely Simon Gustafsson, perhaps a bigger blow as they now lack scoring power from the junior position. However, Renat Gafurov (with 15 points in 6 heats in his last appearence at the track) slots in at reserve, and the Kumla outfit can also welcome back Joonas Kylmäkorpi from his stint on the injury list, replacing out-of-form Matej Ferjan.

Kenneth Bjerre scored 10 points for Dackarna last week, but is not in the line-up for this meeting against Västervik. Kenneth and Rory Schlein have been left out of the line-up, with Hans Andersen and Nicolai Klindt getting back among the seven starters for the Målilla team.

Västervik can welcome back Tomasz Gapinski from injury, but now face a questionmark in the availability of Anton Rosén who crashed in Norway on Sunday. He is a doubtful starter on Tuesday night, but no more info is available at the moment.

Elit Vetlanda also won by a huge margin (at home, 59-37 against Rospiggarna), but they have also choosen to make changes. Peter Ljung and Adrian Gomolski, who scored 14 paid 16 last week, have been replaced by Karol Zabik and Sebastian Aldén.

i have to say i dont agree on Bosse J's pick for Ikaros Smedernas team. Why is Max and Buczek picked over Vaculik? or why not use Miskowiak instead of Max?

Misiek did pretty good at the home meetings last season i think he would score more points then Max from the nr4 position.

I would have liked to see this team:

1. Kasper

2. Zorro

3. King

4. Miskowiak

5. Jagus

6. L. Eklöf

7. Vaculik

Linus Eklöf wont ride tonight due to Burglary. Some breaked in into Ikaros Smedernas garage and stole allot of stuff:

Linus Elöf lost two carburettors. Other things that were stolen was a n Enduro Motorcycle, helmets, goggles, kevlars...

Apart from Linus, Martin Vaculik and Robert Henderson also got things stolen.

It is not clear who will replace Linus but i think its either Robin Bergqvist, Robert Henderson or Henrik Karlsson.

Very good meeting and well done to Vetlanda on snatching the draw.

Worrying for us Monarchs' fans was seeing THJ's frightening crash and although he appeared to be okay he never reappeared to race again. Can our Swedish friends tell us if it was due to the effects of the crash or was he replaced with riders who were doing better on the night?

Smederna took their first home win with 52-44.

After a huge delay (over 1 hour) because Rune Holta was not happy with the track (which was a bit more wet then usual)

Honestly i think that Holta as an away rider. doesn't have any say about the how the track should be graded.

The home team captain (Zorro)said that they thought the track was ok and IMO the ref should not take his opinion into consideration

when deciding about the track. This way Runes "orders" might remove some of the home advantage for the home team.

A second delay happened when Jesper B Monbergs mechanics finger got cut off just below the fingernail.

when his finger somehow got stuck in the chain.

A very close meeting all the way especially after

the away team's 5-1 in heat 14 but home riders King, Max, Zorro and Jagoda ended the meeting with 2x5-1 :D :D

The most exciting heat was heat 13 where Indianerna had 5-1 after the first corner but Zorro in a very elegant manner winded them up

one by one :D :D

Most exciting rider: ZORRO!!!!!!!!

Man of the match ZORRO!!!!!!!!

Biggest surprise: Miakel Max who scored 8+1

Biggest disappointment: Kasprzak and Holta

spectators: 2427.

Smedernas Score:

Ikaros Smederna 52

Magnus Zetterström 13+1

Wieslaw Jagus 11

Mikael Max 8+1

Daniel King 8+2

Krzysztof Buczkowski 6

Krzysztof Kasprzak 4

Linus Eklöf 2

at Axelent Arena, Gislaved

Attendence: 3392

1. Chris Holder 2*-1-1-2-1* = 7+2 (5)

2. David Ruud 3-3-3-2-0 = 11 (5)

7. Dennis Andersson 0-2*-0-1 = 3+1 (4)

8. Robert Pettersson

Elit Vetlanda (away) 48

1. Lee Richardson 1-2-3-3-1 = 10 (5)

2. Karol Zabik 0-0-N-0 = 0 (3)

3. Jaroslaw Hampel 3-0-1-3-1-3 = 11 (6)

4. Thomas H Jonasson 0-Fx-N-N = 0 (2)

5. Jason Crump 2-2-3-3-3-3 = 16 (6)

6. Sebastian Aldén 3-1-2*-2-0-0 = 8+1 (6)

7. Patrick Hougaard 2*-1*-0-0 = 3+2 (4)

8. Robin Aspegren

For Lejonen,

Holder was good, but perhaps not as sharp as I feared, however meeting Crump three times obviously limited his scoring. Ruud was lighting fast, and usually brings his "A-game" when facing (one of) his former team, Elit Vetlanda. Adams saved a point for Lejonen when passing Richardson in heat 16, but one heat victory in five outings is not enough. Suchecki was excellent for his starting average of 4.15 in the main body, beating one riders in each of his heats, due to good gating ability. Pedersen didn't make a gate all night and looked nothing like the one he should be. Kling at least won heat 11, which save his night. Andersson was good, and is a solid contributor from the junior position in this team.

For Elit Vetlanda,

Richardson showed once again that he is - by far - the best Brit in the Swedish league, despite needing a heat to adjust to a track he had never been to (I think). Zabik took Pedersen on a wide trip on the first bend in his third outing, allowing Hampel to fly away in the distance, but otherwise did nothing. Supposedly dropped to fourth on the pecking order among the squad's second strings after this performence. Hampel had one poor heat, as usual, but worth his points. Jonasson was quicker and more "into" the meeting than the score suggest, but withdrew after a heavy crash in his second. Crump, well, what can you say? What a rider! Aldén scored well, even though one or two points more could've been found in the scoresheet. A paid nine is good nevertheless. Hougaard was OK, lost a paid second place in the final bend of heat 11 due to a lost chain.

Man of the match: David Ruud (despite his heat 16 last place)

Most exciting rider: David Ruud

*-*-*

Rospiggarna didn't race this week.

*-*-*

Worrying for us Monarchs' fans was seeing THJ's frightening crash and although he appeared to be okay he never reappeared to race again. Can our Swedish friends tell us if it was due to the effects of the crash or was he replaced with riders who were doing better on the night?

A little bit of both I guess, but mainly becaused the effects of the crash. He was better than the score suggested and could've come out in heat 13 if he had been heathly, but according to local newspaper Vetlanda-Posten he opted out of the meeting as he had a headache and a sore/stiff neck.
