I did post this on another thread, but I felt that it might have got lost under the other threads many replies.

Just to add fuel to the fire of the London Riders Championship honours. Dave Jessup did win a version of the LRC. The 1970 Division Two LRC held at Romford, on Thursday 16 July 1970.

The scores were

Dave Jessup 14, Phil Woodcock 12, Brian Foote 11, Ian Gills 10, Colin Sanders 10, Ross Gilbertson 9, Tony Childs 9, Alan Emmett 7, Kevin Holden 7, Nigel Rackett 6, Geoff Maloney 6, Charlie Benham 5, Terry Stone 5, Gary Moore 4, Barry Thomas 3, Mike Holt 1, A.Degan (res) 0

According to the Speedway Star magazine of the time, this was the very first staging of this event.

Dave Jessup also won the "real" LRC in 1975.

Your right Norbold while he was racing for the Leicester 'Lions'

My post was regarding the '83 LRC, forgot the '75 one.

I have a good excuse, I didn't start going to speedway until 1976 (only 50 lines for me)

Wasn't the first LRC won by Dave Jessup at Romford the London OPEN Championship?

I consider the Romford staging as an open meeting and no way connected with the true LONDON CHAMPIONSHIP. If it had counted for anything Jessup would have had an e/f I expect.
