wont the line up for the stars have topinka still at one? his average is currently higher than wards due to topinka only completing 11 meetings.

Well that was what was on the back of the programme on Wednesday, but it's all changed now anyway and the line up for the opposition is now this, according to this weeks Speedway Star (so I'm told):

Legends

Kevin Doolan

Chris Mills

TBC

Simon Lambert

Jan Jaros

Adam Allott

Don't know on the Stars exact line up order, but yeah, I guess Tom would still be at #1 in that case...plus we now have Linus Eklof to add.

ASHLEYS MEMORIAL LOOKS TRUELY LEGANDARY

This Wednesday’s meeting at the Norfolk Arena is being held in memory of former King’s Lynn Star, Ashley Jones, who died in a racing incident in Australia in 2005. It promises to be the one of the most exciting meetings this year with the mighty 2009 Stars team taking on a King’s Lynn Legends team, that is made up of all former Stars riders who have earned the status as a King’s Lynn legend, just as Ashley was himself.

Unlike any away team to have ever visited the Saddlebow Road circuit in the past, the legends team is made up of ALL track specialists. Kevin Doolan, the Stars number one rider from last season and who was also Ashley’s best friend, will captain the team. Troy Batchelor was part of the 2005 double winning team alongside Ashley and is returning to the King’s Lynn after two full seasons of Elite League racing. Shane Parker returns to his spiritual home after a spell of four seasons with the club in total and is currently in great form, sitting at the top of the Premier League real time averages. Adam Allott holds a place in all stars fans hearts, and after returning to racing from a broken back he has found great form in the King’s Lynn National League team. Simon Lambert literally grew up at the Saddlebow Road circuit and the fans will be glad to see him back racing there again. Darren Mallett has done enough this season as the Stars number eight to be counted as a legend and has also been in great form of recent in the Premier and National league. Then finally there is Chris Mills, possibly one of the most popular riders to have ever of graced a Stars race jacket in modern day, currently riding for Sheffield and scoring well at reserve for them.

If the legends team wasn’t enough for the fans to get excited about, then hopefully the Stars team will do the trick. For the first time this season the Stars will be at FULL strength with the return of Tomas Topinka from his shoulder injury, Kozza Smith from his pre-season injuries and the debut appearance for new Swedish signing, Linus Eklof. Darcy Ward will also be moving up into the main body of the team for the first time this season, riding at number five.

On paper you couldn’t get two more balanced teams, the Stars started the season with an average just under the 42.50 limit but after 12 matches they have increased that to just over 50 points. Even though this is possibly the highest team average the club has ever seen the legends match up against them with a higher team average just a point over theirs. Stars promoter, Buster Chapman, anticipates an fascinating match up ‘every season we try and think of a fitting way to celebrate Ashley’s life and time with us, and this season is by far the most exciting idea we have ever come up with. The legends team is packed full of track specialists and it will be fascinating to see how Chris, Tomas and Darcy, who have all been virtually unbeaten round here so far this season will match up against the likes of Shane, Kevin and Troy. Fans everywhere will be torn picking a winning team and all I can say is they should be here to watch it because it will be one of the best meetings seen ANYWHERE this year’.

Ought to be the Star's toughest home test of the year.

However thats of secondary importance - remembering Ashley and celebrating his life is what its all about.

Wouldn't miss this for anything!

I don't know Trees, but it seems that's all irrelevant now (again!) as JC has posted in the PL section, saying the line up is now this:

Stars 50.35

1. Tomas Topinka 9.37

2. Emiliano Sanchez 6.93

3. Linus Eklof 7.00

4. Chris Schramm 8.70

5. Darcy Ward 9.35

6. Kozza Smith 5.38

7. Jan Graversen 3.62

Legends 51.70 (with last known PL averages and EL averages doubled)

1. Troy Batchelor 14.62

2. Simon Lambert 5.89

3. Adam Allott 5.44

4. Kevin Doolan 8.81

5. Shane Parker 9.01

6. Darren Mallett 3.00

7. Chris Mills 4.93

So, no Jaros, plus Parker and Mallett are still in the line up

After I typed what I did I thought the Star must be wrong cos JC prints those racezines on a Wednesday anyways and oughta know his line up!

Don't know where the Star was getting their info from...cloud cuckoo land so it seems

Also, did I hear right on Wednesday that season ticket holders get a free race-zine? I thought that's what Buster said, but I'm not too sure...

Was already looking forward to this meeting when the provisional lineups were announced but the inclusion of Linus Eklof has added to the anticipation even more.

The "Legends" side is packed with riders who excel at the NA so it should be an interesting test for the Stars. Couldn't be much of a tougher debut for Eklof as well because he'll be unlikely to come up against another side this strong at Lynn all season. Also be great to see Kozza back in action after his cruel start to the season. He was looking really good on P&P so it will be interesting to see how he goes before the real action begins!

More importantly though, it's great to see this meeting remain on the Stars calendar (though horrible that it has to take place at all) and I hope it will continue to be held for years to come.

Hope the supporters turn up to honour the memory of Ashley and witness the start of a new Star's UK career :approve:

Just to let everyone know that can't get there, we are filming the meeting tomorrow night, so will be available on DVD.

It's looking like it's going to be a really action packed meeting, and of course there is the new Lynn signing Linus Eklof, be interesting to see him in his first outing with the Stars Team, and how he performs against the KL Legends, it's going to be a tough debut for him
