This should be a good meeting, really cant pick a winner so many good pairings. I do think brummies stand a decent chance, Lyons has a fantastic record at somerset and Piszcz has been great this season. Our record in the super 7s since our relauch has been dire, (only really Lyons in 2007 PLRC) we are due a good event. Hopefully a podium place at least for brummies.

Yes your right there hard to pick a winner, its going to be a very tough meeting, i dont think there is a easier group they have been split evenly.

Got my transport sorted out with Team Pepco now :approve: Can't wait for this meeting... :approve:

Must admit though, if Berwick don't do anything that I'm secretly going to be cheering on Workington.... One on loan Bandit and one ex Bandit in the line-up :approve:

What fantastic news for all Grand Prix travellers, It has now been confirmed there are now two pre GP meetings in the area for Friday 26th June,

There's the premier pairs At Somerset 7.30pm :Adult £15 Concessions £10 Youngsters £5

About Two hours to cardiff

OR

There's the match Now At Newport Ht v Scunthorpe St 7.00pm :Adult £8 Concessions £5 Youngsters £1

About 15 min's to Cardiff

This is surely a Speedway fest for all fans and a match for everyone and every pocket with the pairs and now the fantastic value for money match at Newport.

p.s. I am no good at late nights or early mornings so i'm for the Newport match as Cardiff is only 15 min's down the road.

and i can afford Newport and the GP. Thank goodness. Double Bubble.

See you at the GP"!

So you can get from Newport Speedway to Cardiff in 15 minutes but from Newport Speedway to Somerset Speedway takes you 1 hours and 45 minutes?

It's about 1 hours from Somerset to Newport and 30 minutes from Newport to Cardiff. No anyone can see thats no more than 1 hour 30 from Somerset to Cardiff.

Edit. Amazingly, google maps says 32 minutes Newport Speedway to the centre of Cardiff and 1 hour 7 minutes from Somerset to Cardiff).

I suggest if you're going to post timings, you get it right, it gives you more credibility. Even without lying, people who only want a shorter journey would go to Newport

Definitely Newport, the M5 is a nightmare on a Friday evening – everybody trying to get to Devon and Cornwall for the weekend. Missed the start of the meeting 2 years running because of the traffic jams, even though we allowed plenty of time – fans were even using the hard shoulder!

Newport is far easier on the pocket and the nerves. Even better, if you’re staying in Cardiff get the train over and have a few beers!

Couldn't get much more luck than last years semi final. How much luck does he need????

Think you will find it was Jason Doyle who got the luck in that race.. ;)

I was about to say, it normally takes us no more than 30-45 minutes to get from Somerset to Newport.

I thought you were intelligent??

It's a pairs meeting, by 'Doyle getting the luck' it meant Kramer/Somerset got a shot at the final they shouldn't have had.

Deary me, you're a long way off SCB's position yet :P

Jesus i have never heard a set of fans sounding as desperate to get people to watch a meeting as this Newport mob. Slag me off all you want i dont care it really is crinch worthy. Dont you think you have enough with the Welsh Open on the Sunday?

To be fair to them if your club were threated with closure from lack of people through the gate wouldn't you encourage fans? I know I would.

If we are indeed called the speedway family, why not kill 2 birds with one stone, and have the pairs at Newport? A club in need of some cash, nobody wants them to go under, so why not support them in their hour of need? It is closer to Cardiff for a start, so less travelling for those who make a weekend out of both meetings.

There doesn't seem to be any point in running 2 meetings on the same evening, fighting it out for the revenue it brings. If anything, it only serves to water down any money to be gleaned.

Or why not keep the pairs at Somerset where it belongs. Newport get the Open on the Sunday. They whole point of the weekend is the variety. I dont want to be going Newport - Cardiff - Newport. Plus the track at Somerset in my mind is far superior to the one at Newport.

Anyway can anyone tell me what there is to do in Highbridge. I was thinking that to save hitting traffic my dad and I could maybe go to Highbridge early if there is anything there to keep us amused for a few hours.

After last years racefest this one is the must meeting for Friday, traffic jams or not.

Newport fans need not despair, The Welsh Open is another definite.

The track is about 5-10 mins from the sea at burnham, nothing too exciting but you can get something to eat, and probably lose a hour or two. Probably better to go to Weston Super Mare for the afternoon if its dry  .
