PREVIEW OF SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 2

DACKARNA - PIRATERNA

at G&B Arena, Målilla

The most interesting meeting of this round is held in Målilla. Piraterna opened the league campaign with an excellent beating of Lejonen, and must show that the win wasn't a fluke. Emil Sajfutdinov is missing (don't know why...) so Antonio Lindbäck steps up into the main body, with Daniel Nermark making his season debut in round 2.

VARGARNA - ROSPIGGARNA

at Norrköpings Motorstadion, Norrköping

The teams riding in Norrköping both lost their opening meetings, Vargarna at home and Rospiggarna away from home. Rospiggarna change Maciej Janowski and Freddie Eriksson for former Vargarna rider Charlie Gjedde and Andreas Messing. For the home side, Adrian Miedzinski replaces Edward Kennett who only scored four points last week. Also, Tai Woffinden drops to reserve while Adam Skornicki takes the No 4 race jacket.

IKAROS SMEDERNA - ELIT VETLANDA

at Smedstadion, Eskilstuna

Ikaros Smederna took a surprising away win last Tuesday, and the question is: Are they that good or did Vargarna have an off night? Anyway, Thomas H Jonasson is back in the saddle in Elit Vetlanda so both teams should be considered to be at full strength.

Ikaros Smederna (home)

1. Krzysztof Kasprzak

2. Troy Batchelor

3. Magnus Zetterström

4. Daniel King

5. Wieslaw Jagus

6. Linus Eklöf

7. Mikael Max

( 8. - )

Elit Vetlanda (away)

1. Lee Richardson

2. Peter Ljung

3. Jaroslaw Hampel

4. Thomas H Jonasson

5. Jason Crump

6. Robin Aspegren

7. Sebastian Aldén

( 8. Anders Mellgren )

*-*-*

Västervik will rest in the 2nd round.

All meetings can be followed live on www.speedway.nu, as usual. All meetings starts (with rider presentation) at 19:00 local time, so first heat should be underway at approximately 19:10.

Enjoy!

(As I will be in Eskilstuna on Tuesday night, I won't be able to post the scores until sometime on Wednesday. If someone will provide links/results before that, you are welcome. Regardless, I'll give a report from the Ikaros Smederna vs Elit Vetlanda meeting sometime on Wednesday)

Robin Bergqvist will be the nr8 rider for Ikaros Smederna. To be honest i dont think Smederna is strong enough to beat Vetlanda so i anticipate a win for Vetlanda but as you know anything can happen in speedway.

Zorro will also make his first home meeting since the return home to Ikaros Smederna.

The biggest concern is the weather. The forecasts, who probably are a bit unreliable, doesnt look rain is expected the question is how much and for how long it will rain.

unfortunately there have been a few accidents at tonigts meetings.

In the meeting between Lejonen and Indianerna Holder and Simon Gustafsson had a crash and Simon was taken away by ambulance with a suspected broken collar bone. Holder managed to escape without serious injury and was able to ride his remaing heats. Lejonen without Nicki but with Adams eventually won with 53-43. Simon is expected to need about a month for heeling and recovery.

Lejonen–Indianerna 53–43

Individual Scores:

Lejonen: David Watt 14 points(6 heat), Leigh Adams 13 (5), David Ruud 10 (5), Chris Holder 10 (5), Piotr Swiderski 5 (5), Dennis Andersson 1 (2), Tomasz Jedrzejak 0 (3), Robert Pettersson 0 (1).

Indianerna: Piotr Protasiewicz 16 (6), Grzegorz Walasek 9 (6), Rune Holta 8 (6), Leon Madsen 4 (3), Matej Ferjan 3 (3), Jesper B Monberg 2 (5), Simon Gustafsson 1 (2).

Dackarna vs. Piraterna also ended 53-43 but the biggest loss for Piraterna was Robert Kosciecha's injuy. According to this news article he suffered a highside(?) (dont have a better word for it) and he fell and was hit by Rory Schlein. Robert was taken to hospital where the x-rays shown that the left wrist is broken and have to be operated. The fracture need about 8 weeks to heal properly. Dackarnas was over 10p behind after the first heats but managed to get back and win.

Dackarna-Piraterna 53-43

Dackarna: Fredrik Lindgren 13, Hans Andersen 13, Andreas Jonsson 11, Peter Karlsson 6, Nikolai Klindt 6, Rory Schlein 2, Ludvig Lindgren 2

Piraterna: Daniel Nermark 11,

Jonas Davidsson 10, Damian Balinski 9, Rafal Dobrucki 7, Antonio Lindbäck 4, Linus Sundström 2

The third meeting that actually was able to go on, although almost one hoyr delayed because of rain, was Ikaros Smederna vs. Elit Vetlanda were Smederna lead through the major part of the meeting but Vetlanda successfully managed to make some tactical Substitutes towards the end.

Vetlanda won in the end with 50-46 after two 5-1s and one 4-2 in the last 4 heats.

Mikael Max made the passing of the meeting when he in the 10th heat passed Crump, Jagus and Hampel in one sweep on the inside on the first find directly after start. Crump easily re-passed Max at the end of the starigh but Jagoda and Max managed to hold on to the 3-3.

Crump was outstanding with a paid maximum . Hampel and Lee R found the speed at the end and both managed to score 12p. Peter Ljung didnt do especially well scoring only 1p.

THJ well we all know what he is going through and its probably good for him to continue riding. Had a fall in heat 3 but it wasnt anything serious. THJ scored 2p.

Both Troy Batchelor and Kasprzak were quite lost in this meeting and both need to improve especially from Kasper.

Zorro was ok not more, not less. King was pretty good and started with 2+1, 3 and 2 but then finished with zero x2.

Jagus was good as usual but failed to beat Crump in any heat although he was very close in heat 4.

Micke Max continues to ride well the only minus was that he didnt manage to win heat 11 where he scored 2p and was beaten by Sebastian Aldén. Micke eneded on 12p.

Linus Eklöf not much to say about him.

Smederna-Vetlanda 46-50

Smederna: Mikael Max 12, Wieslav Jagus 11, Daniel King 7, Krzystof Kasprazak 6, Magnus Zetterström 5, Troy Batchelor 3, Linus Eklöf 2

Vetlanda: Jason Crump 16, Lee Richardson 12, Jaroslaw Hampel 12, Sebastian Aldén 7, Thomas H Jonasson 2, Peter Ljung 1

forgot to mention that

Vargarna-Rospiggarna got postponed until tonight because of track preparation mistakes. Vargarna had watered the track during the afternoon expecting it to dry up in time for the start. Unfortunately a few heavy rain showers hit the track later during the afternoon. This meant that the track became to soaked with water and despite attempts to grade it its was too waterlogged for speedway racing. A new attempt will be made this evening at 19.00 CEST.

Tai Woffinden will most likely be replaced with Niklas Klingberg.

Västervik didint have any schedule meeting this night due to the uneven number of teams (9).

Will it still be live on TV? Klingberg confirmed? Almost forgot about that rider, thought he retired. Does he ride is any league on a regular basis?

it will be shown only on Canal+'s webb-tv; http://www.csports.se/speedway.aspx but only if you live in any of the nordic countries.

Klingberg is not confirmed. Its only confimred that Tai wont be able to ride but obviously its easier for Vargarna to use Klingberg then kennett.

Tai is guesting for Kings Lynn tonight, I Presume that's the reason why he couldn't make the re-run.

Smederna-Vetlanda 46-50

Smederna: Mikael Max 12, Wieslav Jagus 11, Daniel King 7, Krzystof Kasprazak 6, Magnus Zetterström 5, Troy Batchelor 3, Linus Eklöf 2

Vetlanda: Jason Crump 16, Lee Richardson 12, Jaroslaw Hampel 12, Sebastian Aldén 7, Thomas H Jonasson 2, Peter Ljung 1

Well, I'm obviously happy with the outcome of yesterday's meeting. It felt strange though as I though Ikaros Smederna had the meeting in their hands for 3/4 of the meeting, but suddenly the score was as tight as 40-38 (after 13 heats), and I finally realized we actually had a chance of victory. The Elit Vetlanda stars delivered the goods once again with a 17-7 score in the final four heats, which was almost as good as the 19-5 overhauling of Västervik in the final four heats in round 1.

For Ikaros Smederna,

Kasprzak was better than the score suggested, and it was surprising to see that by the end of the meeting, he had failed to register a heat victory. Batchelor didn't do much, and considering his paid 13 score last week, it was something of a disappointment. Zetterström had one good ride, as the scoreline says. King definitely did his job, despite fading in the end. Jagus was the one rider to threaten the top riders of the away team. Eklöf was as expected. Max, though he is not my favourite rider, honestly he did a great job to cement the fact that Ikaros Smederna will always have one ace down at reserve.

For Elit Vetlanda,

Richardson was always there or thereabout, always beat an opponent and definitely provided quality back-up to Crump & Hampel. Ljung can do much better, will certainly have a tough time cracking the away line-up if his score doesn't improve away from home. Hampel started slow but eventually got a 12 points score, which is good enough. Jonasson was, just like several others on the night, more into the action than the score suggest. Crump was fanastic, simple as that. Aldén was solid, and had a crucial win lowering the colours of Max in heat 11. Mellgren wasn't really close this time.

Man of the match: Jason Crump

Most exciting rider: Wieslaw Jagus

Bring on those Pirates next week!

How badly is Joe Screen injured ? Apparently, he has a shoulder injury, and is not riding for Poole away at Swindon tonight...

Apparently, he scored 7 paid 9 in Norrkoping last night, so in what race did he crash ????

:blink::blink::blink:
