If they were to claim they didnt want to risk their riders with the run in to the championship and possible promotion , well Swindon better with draw all ther riders in that case just in case. Still a quality field and well done to Midland Robin forputting on such a prestige event, maybe this can become a regular event. wondered if any of the field from the GP qualifyer had been approached, maybe the ones we rarely see may be even Pavlic, be interesting to see how he goes in that event. disappointed no Ward though. However I too would like to thank MR and all the Swindon promotion for putting this meeting on. I know obviously Swindon stand to gain by taking the gate monies but as you have pointed out "ice" it would have been so much easier for them to wrap up thier riders in cotton wool ready for the playoffs. What a shame King's Lynn have appeared to have been so childish in preventing supporters of defunct clubs a chance to see Darcy ride the Blunsden oval just to get back at Swindon!  As an aside, MR if you read this, any chance of getting Big H on the microphone for a spell tonight? 21st century heathen Posted September 17, 2009 Report Share Posted September 17, 2009 Unbelievable!!! Up the Brummies for the play-offs. Gutted not to see Ward turn out for the Mighty Heathens. If KL had genuine fears for DW's health and fitness he wouldn't have been taking guest bookings all over the place. So it must be a personal issue, and to not have the decency to say it to someone's face when you've been sat in a meeting with them for however long is gutless at best. It's because of this type of self-interest, personal vendetta and back-stabbing between clubs that speedway is dying a slow painful death. Â Thanks to Cameron for stepping in and Eastbourne for not being so wrapped up in their own agenda that they don't see the big picture. They had offered nothing but polite applause during the main event (a 45-45 thriller between the Brummies and Stoke) but came to life when what they regarded as the real business of the evening got under way. After the BSPA refusing to allow it to be ridden on a weekend up until the actions of the Lynn promotion by refusing to allow Darcy Ward to ride, it seems to have been one problem after another. The loss of Crump is a big blow, but I'm afraid that's speedway - while I will have very little time for Iversen unless he comes up with a very valid reason for pulling out at the 11th hour.  But that's still a team wearing Oxford Cheetahs race-jackets out there tonight - and it's the first time that's happened at Elite League since May 2007. I'm going along with my Cheetahs top and jacket and will be wearing them proudly tonight.  MR has faced all sorts of problems in putting on this meeting, but he's perserved and I hope the response for the public from Oxford, Reading and Cradley is enough to convince him to do it again.  All the best Rob   Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Would have been great to link up with the likes of Huntley etc again and can only hope there'll be further opportunities in the future. Hope it all goes well at Blunsdon. They also rode a second half at Coventry (after the Wolves meeting in fact) and once there guys come out come to life and cheered on their lads for all 4 laps in all 6 heats. Now if you'd have said another certain promoter, who had Pepe as our No. 1  In any case, I reckon the Oxford quartet can still put up a decent display tonight - Bridger (who IS an Elite League No. 1) is our top rider and not Batchelor. Pepe did finish top of the averages though.  Anyway, can we get off the topic of our 2007 Elite League team, which not only is wiped from the official records, but I'm trying to wipe it from my memory.  SB, are you coming tonight? Still plenty to attract the neutral supporter - plus you'd be helping to keep the name of three famous old clubs alive.
