Vicar
Barker fell in 16th heat and probably broke bone in foot
flagrag
Not sure what has happened Ben Barker had 8 from 3 rides then a massive delay in updates and now Ben was not in his next ride so may have crashed there are comments on the speed DE website but my German is not good hopefully not injured doubt 8 would be enough
superguest
http://www.speedway-forum.de/live/liveneustadt.html Seems that Ben Barker has had to be withdrawn from his last 2 rides.

daddyfairy
Suspected broken foot for Ben . Translated by my friend in Poland. lots and lots of bones in the foot so lets hope it isnt an important or painful one!!! Unlucky ben but good to see you are still in with a place as reserve spot Edit - posted by Sandie ( using the computer upstairs and forgetting to log DF out first ) Edited April 26, 2009 by daddyfairy
flagrag
But a long way to go to Sweden or Hungary with no definite chance of a ride not to mention the expense and possibly having to miss a coventry meeting as Hungary is a Sat afternoon. I'm not sure if there is any wild card places for the semis although I'm sure Bridger wold get that as British U21 champion it is looking like a broken leg or ankle rather than foot. It looks like the top six from the five qualifiers plus one home seeded rider in the semis. Really tough on the reserves. I hope the injury isn't as bad as is feared. It was looking really good for qualification up to that.

There are only home wildcards. One for Hungary and one for Sweden is it?No Brits would get a wildcard. But there are enough quali spots.....Ben has to rely on someone elses mis-fortune i am afraid.Let's hope he is back soon
colincooke
I see the race Ben was injured in he was up against one of his main rivals on the night Maciej Janowski, was it a tangle between those 2? Away from that news, winner Martin Vaculik is a rider i've been looking at for quite a while now, get him over here Sandhu. MunichMassive
no,he has broken his right leg. i've been there.right after he crashed,he put off his helmet and said my leg is broken. what bone excactly i dont know.but he didn look like he had horrible pain.he looked pretty normal.. so i hope its not so bad cause for me he was one of the best today.he had a few lines that nobody else had ridden. was with his back wheel right next to the white inside line while riding in the gras with the front wheel.awesome style. pretty unfortunate day for him also he was doing well so far. could be a massive blow for the bees. flagrag
I understand Ben has flown home to the UK this evening to get treated and to get a 2nd opinion on the injury as I am told the Drs in Germany said it required an operation hopefully the UK drs will have a different view. I know Ben is quite gutted on how this happened and how he is likely not to progress any further in his last year in the U21s as by all accounts he was flying and probaly the best rider on the day and he had bike trouble in his 3rd ride when his number one bike wouldnt start so went out on 2nd bike which was just not as quick as number 1 bike so he dropped a point which in the end would have got him through to the next round. It would have given him a run off against Giruckis. In FIM competitions places 1 to 3 and possible reserves are always solved through a runoff. Heat wins have no role when a podium finish or a reserve slot for the next around are at stake. Edited April 27, 2009 by f-s-p

Have to agree with you, he's only 17 or 18 I believe and is going well in Poland. Hopefully a speedy recovery for Ben as he looked really good on Friday.
