Last Night's Gp

Recommended Posts

Did anyone see last night's GP? I thought it was a dismal affair, there was no surface and only one racing line. If only they would put down some depth of material, they could maybe get some passing. As it was, even Nicki Pedersen was unable to pass. And when Runa Holta apparenty had a go at Ole Olsen over the state of the track, no one rushed to interview him. The interviewers are pathetic anyway, though Chris Louis could be OK if he was a bit more aggressive.

And Tony F*****g Millard was at it again. Did my beady old ears deceive me, or did he say no one had won the World Championship three years in succession? They really ought to fire him.

Cant argue with any of that,Olsen needs to move on,the tacks he prepares are to slick and gives no chance to race.In other words its a borefest, could be wrong but wasnt there quite a few empty seats all the back straight. Its not the biggest of stadiums so that could be a worry for the GP chiefs.Poor racing, pathetic from the Brits and a inept commentary.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, perhaps the FIM need to intervene ................ are IMG/BSI making world championship speedway into a laughing stock, they are ultimately responsible for everything that goes on after all, it's their baby.

A couple of things came out of last nights GP to my mind, firstly, what a poor attendance with empty seats all around the stadium, followed quickly by, what a dreadful track, so slick that the chance of passing was almost zero, and produced one of the most boring GPs since its inception, the people that stayed away obviously knew something.

Having said that, what a revelation and a shake up for the establishment did we have with Emil Sajfutdinov, at the first attempt, made winning a GP look the easiest thing in the world, absolutely fantastic - It must have made Bomber and Scotty think very deeply after an inept performance from both of them - Both looked Slow, neither could gate, and looked out of their depth.

Worrying, that in an interview with Bomber he said, he was happy with his early season performances, if he really is, then his personal ambition must be very low indeed, because his racing career has badly stagnated since 2007 - perhaps its finance, and if it is, it would perhaps be understandable in the present climate, but i rather think its professionalism, application and desire that is lacking, his gating is of novice standard.

As for Scotty, look, he is never going to win the GP, and at his age, rather than take a season out from Britain complaining of fixture conjestion, he really should be maximising his income, he is a good league rider in all countries, he needs in the absence of substantial funding, to accept this, at the moment he is easily Britains best rider, but in the next 2 years or so, he will be knocked off this mantle by the up and coming young brits.

My final thought was this, instead of promoters investing great sums of money, making riders their own assets, in a sport where you may not be able to use them beyond a particular season, maybe, the BSPA should all get together and use this circulating money to sponsor the British Lads, particulary the young guys, so they can afford the very best machinery, and ultimately make a mark on the world stage in years to come. This will lift the image of the sport in the eyes of Supporters, Media and especially Sky TV, and crowds would be attracted back to this wonderful, yet declining in popularity sport.

Yup I can't believe SKY will be chuffed at the quality of racing last night. To be fair Marketa as a track normally is better than that, so I can forgive it this time.

Looks like the Poles stayed away, recession must be biting hard.

The wee man Emil certainly put the cat amongst the proverbials last night.

I think the series needs a bit more of an injection of new blood to keep the interest going.

Nicholls, Harris and Gollob were really poor last night.
