Was there in 2005..... for a rain off!!! So would love to see some racing action. Mind you it's an ill wind................, as there was a bar owner in Nassjo who couldn't believe his luck when around 70 Brits descended on his establoishment for the evening!!! Ghostwalker
tonights Div1 meetings: http://www.speedway.nu/2009/todayNY.asp Direct links: Eldarna-Gasarna Filbyterna - Hultsfreds Gymnasium Aborted/cancelled (i think its because of rain). Indianerna Ungdom - Stjäronorna Team Hagfors - Team Bikab This meeting is a top clash between the nr2 (TH) and nr3 placed teams (TB). I would expect a win for Team Hagors since they are using riders that usually rides in Allsvenskan. Compared to mostly younger riders in Team Bikab. Bikab will hopefully put up a very good fight and if the Hagfors boys having a bad hair day or something like that ... Bikab might have a chance of snatching the victory. For those of you who dont already know, the nr6 rider in Team Bikab, Jacek Basinski is one of Billy Hamill's former Mechanics who now lives in Eskilstuna. Anders
Kenny Wennerstam won today's Gunnar Lundberg Cup youth meeting in Vetlanda. The meeting is only open for riders that are 14 years or younger in 2009, so could be considered a Swedish U14 Championship, though I guess the authorities can't formally call it a Swedish Championship meeting. Gunnar Lundberg Cup has previously been integrated in the Youth Championship Final (U16), but was held as a seperate meeting this season. The home rider lost a surprise point to Alexander Johansson in his third outing but beat two of his toughest rivals (Nilsson, Andersson) from the outside gates in his final two rides to win the meeting, forcing Joel Andersson to a mistake on the opening lap of heat 17 to complete a pass, for the win. Freddie Broms beat Björn Nilsson in the final round to clinch the silver medal, but Nilsson got the bronze since home rider Andreas Runesson wasn't able to force a run-off for the third place, as he finished third in his final outing. In the end, the top four predicted riders finished in the top four positions, so one might say there weren't any huge surprises, but a special mention must go Bysarna's 11 year old Joel Elofsson who rode very well to finish sixth. Final score: 1) (10) Kenny Wennerstam, Elit Vetlanda, 14p ( 3 3 2 3 3 ) 2) (9) Freddie Broms, Dackarna, 13p ( 2 3 2 3 3 ) 3) (16) Björn Nilsson, Gnistorna, 12p ( 3 2 3 2 2 ) 4) (8) Joel Andersson, Indianerna, 11p ( X 3 3 3 2 ) 5) (7) Johan Jensen, Dackarna, 10p ( 2 3 1 3 1 ) 6) (12) Joel Elofsson, Bysarna, 10p ( 1 1 3 2 3 ) 7) (6) Andreas Runesson, Elit Vetlanda, 10p ( 3 2 2 2 1 ) 8) (1) Kim Åsling, Indianerna, 8p ( 3 2 1 1 1 ) 9) (4) Alexander Johansson, Piraterna, 7p ( F 0 3 1 3 ) 10) (3) Joel Kling, Dackarna, 7p ( 2 2 1 0 2 ) 11) (15) Oskar Axelsson, Indianerna, 5p ( 2 1 2 0 0 ) 12) (2) Simon Eriksson, Rospiggarna, 3p ( 1 0 0 2 X ) 13) (11) Anton Bredin, Elit Vetlanda, 3p ( 0 X 0 1 2 ) 14) (14) Linus Stuxberg, Bysarna, 3p ( 1 1 0 0 1 ) 15) (5) Viktor Flood, Indianerna, 3p ( 1 0 1 1 0 ) 16) (13) Sean Greenfield, Gnistorna, 1p ( 0 1 0 0 0 ) Heat 1 [52.2]: Kim Åsling, Joel Kling, Simon Eriksson, Alexander Johansson (F) Heat 2 [52.0]: Andreas Runesson, Johan Jensen, Viktor Flood, Joel Andersson (X) Heat 3 [49.1]: Kenny Wennerstam, Freddie Broms, Joel Elofsson, Anton Bredin Heat 4 [50.8]: Björn Nilsson, Oskar Axelsson, Linus Stuxberg, Sean Greenfield Heat 5 [49.7]: Freddie Broms, Kim Åsling, Sean Greenfield, Viktor Flood Heat 6 [49.3]: Kenny Wennerstam, Andreas Runesson, Linus Stuxberg, Simon Eriksson Heat 7 [51.0]: Johan Jensen, Joel Kling, Oskar Axelsson, Anton Bredin (X) Heat 8 [50.2]: Joel Andersson, Björn Nilsson, Joel Elofsson, Alexander Johansson Heat 9 [51.4]: Björn Nilsson, Andreas Runesson, Kim Åsling, Anton Bredin Heat 10 [51.2]: Joel Elofsson, Oskar Axelsson, Viktor Flood, Simon Eriksson Heat 11 [50.0]: Joel Andersson, Freddie Broms, Joel Kling, Linus Stuxberg Heat 12 [50.1]: Alexander Johansson, Kenny Wennerstam, Johan Jensen, Sean Greenfield Heat 13 [51.5]: Johan Jensen, Joel Elofsson, Kim Åsling, Linus Stuxberg Heat 14 [50.6]: Joel Andersson, Simon Eriksson, Anton Bredin, Sean Greenfield Heat 15 [49.2]: Kenny Wennerstam, Björn Nilsson, Viktor Flood, Joel Kling Heat 16 [50.4]: Freddie Broms, Andreas Runesson, Alexander Johansson, Oskar Axelsson Heat 17 [50.7]: Kenny Wennerstam, Joel Andersson, Kim Åsling, Oskar Axelsson Heat 18 [51.0]: Freddie Broms, Björn Nilsson, Johan Jensen, Simon Eriksson (X) Heat 19 [52.3]: Joel Elofsson, Joel Kling, Andreas Runesson, Sean Greenfield Heat 20 [51.8]: Alexander Johansson, Anton Bredin, Linus Stuxberg, Viktor Flood Courtesy of the live updates on Elit Vetlanda's website. Ghostwalker
former Smederna rider, young Slovak talent Martin Vaculik will replace Karol Zabik in Elit Vetlanda for the rest of the season. Normally new riders are not allowed to be brought in outside the transfer windows but exceptions is allowed when the new rider replaces a long term injured rider. The change is also permanent for the rest of the season and the replaced rider is not allowed to be used again during the same season. http://www.elitvetlanda.nu/index.php?page=...ge=1&id=

Ghostwalker
Match report Team Bikab vs. Gnistorna Swedish Division 1. Scores: Team Bikab 57 Team manager: Robin Johansson Robert Henderson C (1 2’ 1 1) 5+1 Henrik Karlsson (0 3 3 1’ 2’) 9+2 Daniel Henderson (3 2 3 2 FX) 10 Göran Flood (1 FN N N) 1 Robin Bergqvist (3 2 3 3 2) 13 Rasmus Eklöf (0 1 1’ 0 1 2’) 5+2 Jimmy Jansson (3 2’ 0 3 3 3) 14+1 Gnistorna 38 Team manager: Jarek Gliniecki Ricky Kling C (3 3 2 3 3 3) 17 Anton Göthberg (2’ FX 1 N) 3+1 Robert Pettersson (0 1 R 0) 1 Marcus Åström (2 1 0 TT 1) 4 Christian Agö (2 1’ 2 2 1) 8 Robin Zymek (1’ 0 0 2 0) 3+1 Krzysztof Szczawinski (2 FX N N) 2 Score links: http://www.ikarossmederna.nu/?page=news&newsid=1368 http://www.speedway.nu/2009/reportNY.asp?Div1.IE a pretty good meeting. With several good overtakings. I especially liked Henrik Karlsson "Gollob style" overtaking when he came from behind and swept around the field on the outside along the fence. Daniel Henderson also rode very well and managed to beat Ricky Kling once and wasnt far behind the other times they met except heat 16 where Daniel fell at the end of the second lap. Robin Bergqvist showed why he is one of the best scorers in this years Division 1. Henrik Karlsson a also rode pretty well for Team Bikab while Gnistornas Ricky Kling was outstanding all night. Agö did good too but wasnt as "hot" as Kling or Daniel Henderson or Bergqvist. Jimmy Jansson is worth mentioning after a very good performance from his reserve Position one very good good passing (dont remember the heat) where he went a bot wide fooling the opponent to go wide as well while Jimmy passed him on the inside. this was just one of several good efforts tonight from "good ol' Jimmy boy" especially for a rider who quit speedway earlier this season. But when Bikab suffered from a couple of injuries Jimmy was asked to fill in for them and since things went weel he continued. Man of the match: Jimmy Jansson 14+1 (6 rides) and Ricky Kling 17 (6 rides) Most Exciting rider: Daniel Henderson i recorded a (only two laps) with my Digital Compact Camera so the picture quality is NOT particulary good. Heat 16 was stopped when Henderson fell and it was not restarted. Unfortunately there were a very horrifying crash in heat n6. Ricky Kling took the start easily and took the outside line in the first bend his team mate Anton Göthberg was close behind and selected a tighter line through the first bend. At the exit of the first bend Anton gets a "back flip" and he and the bike crashes into the fence at the beginning of the back straight, His bike bounces back out onto the mid track and Team Bikab's Göran flood who was a bit behind on the outside and he had no chance of avoiding Göthbergs bike and hits it with almost full force resulting in a severe crash for Flood as well. Both rider lied quite long on the track before they were taken of the track with ambulances. Luckily both rider escaped with any broken bones or other serious injuries even if Göran Flood was brought in to the hospital "just in case". Göthberg tried to continue the meeting and rode one heat after the crash but apparently he did not feel good enough and did not ride anymore tonight. I have to say both rider should consider themselves lucky that they escaped without more serious injuries because it looked very nasty. Gnistorna's nr 7 Krzysztof Szczawinski fell in heat 4 and id not ride anymore in the meeting but i dont know what was wrong with him and he ppeared to be ok after the crash since he walked back to the pits on his own but reports later said that he was tended by medics. ----------- for those of you who want to find out more (or order a subscription) about the new Swedish Speedway Magazine her is the link to its website: http://www.speedwayracing.se/index.html Edited September 9, 2009 by Ghostwalker
