The stadium is terrific, the atmosphere is amazing and the noise is unbelievable - it all contributes to a great night of speedway............ ...........except one thing - last year the racing was nothing better than average and the quality of tracks so far this year made my mind up for me. If I was confident of seeing the top 16 riders battling it out on a track that allowed these riders to show their talents, I would have ordered my ticket happily. I will be there, it would be good to meet some of you......I leave Canada for my BIG Speedway trip on June 25...and of course I'll be at the GP. Cork hats are for the purpose of eliminating the need for the Great Aussie Salute, hagonshocker, didn't think you had got bushflies over there? If you haven’t heard of the Great Aussie Salute, it is something that you will soon learn once you arrive in Australia. Especially in summertime! Flies in Australia have inspired a new style of body language. Known as the "Australian Salute", Australians have turned flicking away a fly into an art form. Farmers use the salute to convey a regal presence, almost as if they are a billionaire waving his hands to stop his staff bothering him. So dignified does it look, some farmers even salute when flies aren't even bothering them. On the beach, ladies may salute with a flick of the fingers. This can draw a male's attention to the sensuous nature of her hands. In fact, one of Australia's proudest moments occurred in 1954 when the Queen, Gawd Bless 'Er, first visited Australia. Definitely before the meeting, you'll be bumping into forum members everwhere..Speedway takes over Cardiff, you'll love it, a great atmosphere all around the pubs and the streets...Hope the racing is good for you.. Never brilliant racing, apart from the year Harris won. But its an event I would not miss for the whole atmosphere. When is everyone going to the POW....before or after the GP? I will be staying with a friend in Bristol...Plan to be at Somerset the night before and Newport the day after.....not like I really need Speedway....our season is just ONE DAY old here...well Two now! Agreed Sandie, the atmosphere is amazing - but making a six hour drive down from Scotland to experience the atmosphere when I was there last year isn't appealing. I'm afraid to say it's a case of "been there, done that" In theory,(having been once before) I should be busting a gut to to Cardiff but the people who organise the GP's need to ask themselves why people like me won't be returning this year - the simple answer is, the lack of passing on dreadfully slick tracks leaves me with no "urge" just to experience the atmosphere again.
