Anders
Anyone know what the status of this tournament is in the 2009 season? The first bit of information I had, had the final down at Grindsted (Denmark) on August 23rd. It's still listed on that place/date on the Swedish federation's meeting calender (on SVEMO website), but I can't find anything on either Grindsted's or UEM's websites... Anyone got a clue? I just checked it last week from the new UEM website (have the print right here, but cant find it anymore on the website , which is too complicated anyway...)and the final is at Holsted, Denmark on the 23rd of August. The semi at Moorwinkelsdamm will be on the 18th (NOT 19th, like said also on the moorwmm website) and Finland will ride there instead of Russia. Finnish riders for the team will be nominated later, there will be no qualifier and there's also no qualifier for the team places at Pardubice. Eligible U19 riders include Timo Lahti, Kalle Katajisto, Niko Siltaniemi, Appe Mustonen, Jarkko Palmi (his 1st season) and Jari Mäkinen. EDIT: Markku Autio is born in -89 so I think he's too old. Anders
Where ever it is....i hope to get to both meetings...And see a danish win in the final I plan to make a vacation out of that weekend. Güstrow on 21st (vs Wolfslake), Stralsund on 22nd (Osteepokal) and the U19 Team Final on the 23rd, but it sure would be nice to know where to go. It would make the planning much easier. Yes, that would be nice, just as long as can get my finger out as actually make the trip happen. I'm not sure I fully trust myself to do that. Must say i was very impressed with the way the U21 team came back from a disastrous start last year in Holsted. But the Danes would have won if it wasn't for the injury to Kildemand
Anders
Don't forget about Sweden! Simon Gustafsson, Ludvig Lindgren and Linus Sundström remains from the winning team of 2008. Kim Nilsson (replacing Linus Eklöf) will take that fourth place with a trio (Dennis Andersson, Anton Rosén and Anders Mellgren) of riders fighting to be reserve. That quartet shouldn't be underestimated.

Absolutely. And of course i have seen those riders in brackets a few times on 80cc and saw Dennis last year in Fjelsted. He has always impressed me.But how is Mellgren looking as i haven't seen him since the YGT a couple of years ago? Vicar
Yes, Swedish team looks very, very good. Frankly I looked into squad of polish team and I don't see so much good riders. I thinks the best are Przemysław Pawlicki, Maciej Janowski, Marcel Kajzer and Kacper Gomólski.
Anders
But how is Mellgren looking as i haven't seen him since the YGT a couple of years ago? Being team manager of Division 1 team Njudungarna last season, I had the chance to see Anders in action quite a lot, and he had an excellent first season on 500cc, even appearing for Elit Vetlanda in Elitserien in some meetings, besides his Valsarna commitments. He's not your typical junior rider. He doesn't make any irrational moves on the track, he actually thinks speedway like a seasoned veteran. Don't let that fool you, because he does have a temper if things doesn't go his way, but I have yet to see that being displayed on the track. Anders isn't (yet) an out-an-out racer like Antonio Lindbäck, but more of a solid Fredrik Lindgren style rider who positions himself well on the track. I can't wait to see him (any many other riders for that matter) as the Vetlanda 4 Team Tournament is staged this Friday and Saturday. However, if comparing him to Dennis Andersson and Anton Rosén, I would say they are a step ahead of him.
f-s-p
Rules of the said tournament from the UEM rulebook. 16.1 General Competition for national teams. The competition will be run according to the FIM Track Racing Appendices of 2009 (Appendix 070 and Appendix 072b). Teams from different nations will compete in each meeting. The participating teams are divided into Semi Final and a Final according to the decision of the UEM TRC. If the situation arises where a team is missing, the FMNR will provide an additional team. The points scored by the additional team will be counted towards the results of the race. However the additional team will not be classified in the final championship result . The organiser of a meeting of this championship is guaranteed to have its national team compete in this meeting. Semi Final is made up of 4 teams. The organiser of the meeting, the winning team from the Semi-Final and two teams will be allocated a place in the Final. After heat 16, the points scored will be taken into account for riders nominated for heats 17, 18, 19 and 20. In case of riders of the same team tied on points the Team Manager will determine which rider in which heat will ride. The rider nominated as substitute will be the substitute rider for the whole meeting. He is not classified after 16 heats but he is ntitled to race in a maximum of 5 heats (+ 1 additional heat as a tactical substitution) in the meeting. lucifer sam
Under-19 team championship? What a load of rot - yet another pointless competition to take riders away from the leagues who pay them their wages. All the best Rob
