geeze
Emil is without a shadow of doubt one of the brightest prospects in world speedway for quite some time. He's already been in the Russian SWC squad for the last couple of years. Take a look at what he did to career Cov rider Billy Janirro and Simon Stead, who has in the past named Cov as one of his fave tracks. I don't think he'd been to Brandon before this visit in the SWC 2007. I'm pretty sure he was just 17 at the time. I checked out some footage of emil on youtube and this guy is an proper racer and looks like he is fearless he had a great battle with crumpy and got the better of him and looks an exciting rider .With gollob adams hancock getting on in years the sport needs this its a pity we have no one like him in britain although beating janirro and stead does not make him a world beater .I am tempted to have a bet on him he is 50/1 with bet 365 although i think this is hans year and he will be my main bet
HenryW
Emil is a very special talent, and one that has been recognised outside of the sport of speedway...I just hope for our sake that he sticks with speedway. This season is sure to have a big learning curve for him. He has all the talent required, a wonderful back-up crew and hopefully he will have all the kit required despite the failure of some sponsors to deliver due to the current global financial problems. As far as I can see, the only thing standing in the way of Emil having a sensational first GP year is Ole Olsen's track prep. The little lad doesn't seem to have the sharpest gating skills at the moment and, on the tracks that Ole provides, he could find himself struggling to fight his way through the field. In saying that, I have seem him work through the pack on tracks that everyone else has failed to make a pass on, so maybe I am just worrying about nothing. Maybe he will make light of Ole's bald tracks....Or, with guys that are assisting him, maybe this year will be the year when he finally starts making some electric gates as well
Snyper1010
He could well be a suprise top 5 finisher but i have already got a tenner on Hans at 10/1 its his year. World Champion before the last GP
BigFatDave
Saw Emil in World Under 21 final last year. He was head and sholders above everyone else on view. Only made one gate but was extremely quick and overtaking others with ease. Road for Bydgoszcz and Masarna Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought he only beat Holder when they clashed 'cos he drew Red and Chris was in the Yellow, and that was the only gate he made all night? HenryW
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought he only beat Holder when they clashed 'cos he drew Red and Chris was in the Yellow, and that was the only gate he made all night? Not quite right. In the race that they met, Emil was in red and Chris was in blue. If Chris had been in yellow it could have been a very different race. Gate two was definitely the worst option that day. Emil probably did make his best gate of the day in that race but, if my memory serves me right, Chris probably still had the edge out the gate over him. Chris tried to drop across Emil on the run to the first turn and Emil just refused to give any ground and charged Chris out the way as they entered the turn...That cost Chris a lot of ground. He seemed to cope with the clash badly and Emil just romped way from that point on. With all due respect to Chris, I don't think there was any question that Emil was the best rider in Pardubice that day. In 2007 I thought it was unfortunate that Chris and Emil met in their first race as they were the class of the field and I wondered if it would have been different if they had met at the end of the match when Chris was more settled on the track, as he did seem to improve as the match went on...In 2008 they got to meet in their last ride and the result was no better for Chris... I don't mean to diss Chris at all, he is amazing considering his age....If it had been any other time Chris would probably have two gold medals under his belt for the Under 21s, but the simple fact is that Emil is an extra-ordinary talent of the sort that you see very, very rarely. I'm actually not sure the last time I saw a kid his age showing what he has shown on the track....if I ever have!
zonkers
does anyone know much about emil saf i personally am not famillar with him and do you think he will be up to this i imagine he rides in poland or sweden .I think that it will be an interesting season here are my views nikki pedersen the one they all have to beat jason crump will still win gp but past his best gollob the great entertainer brilliant but lacks consistency andersen my tip for world champion exciting huge potential huge talent hancock great gater will always win races but not many gp adams likeable great on tracks with good surface poor when it ruts up johnson massive potential bikes always seem fast but last year was poor needs to step up nicholls talented but poor gating still his downfall harris poor last year bikes seem slow needs to believe in himself was cardiff a freak result emil saf who knows i dont lindgren fast on his day but that isnt that often at this level still young though bjerre good in elite league but probably not good enough at this level cant remeber who else is in it but hans andersen has to be a cracking bet at 12/1 You left out the very entertaining Holta !! You have to admire Chris's results that much more because he's not got the entourage behind him that Emil has .......................... nothing against Emil, he's just a lucky boy. But as I said, he was 17 at the time and came from the back to beat them on a track they know inside-out. ------------------------------------------- Hopefully people will keep things in perspective. Just to qualify by right for 2010 would be an achievement for him. I expect ups and downs throughout the 2009 season.

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Darcy yet, but you certainly can't ignore his results, so am looking forward to getting to see him. I saw Arthur last year and he was very impressive for his age....I thought he was planning to go for the roads, though? Has he decided to stick with speedway? tomcat
As for Holder it is true that he was offered the Wild Card but didnt feel ready for the GP series. All i can say is it shows the lad is in it for the long term and he made a very brave decision. Many would it and rush in then be totally out of their depth. To wait another season at league level bringing in money and upgrading his gear is only going to benefit him when he does enter the series. Snyper.... I'm actually starting to warm to you young fella. When you drop the confrontational attutude, you're actually a very knowledgeable chap and can speak with a lot of sense. I am enjoying reading your idea's on the General Forum area, about speedways T/R Rule etc and now I find you here, again speaking a lot of sense, with a lot of maturity.... well done. Although I did have to chuckle about where you were a mascot.... ditto here, I did the job at Ipswich once, dressed as Blobby, the kids were evil, kicking and punching, worst part is, you have to take it and not react, as you're a figurehead for the promotion and have to keep your cool.... hard as it is/was. Anyway, back on topic... Holder, I agree, made the right call on this years GP series, wait and get his gear sorted properly and then have a serious crack. Outside of Nicki P. I believe that Hans Andersen will be his biggest threat. Gollob could still do it, but needs to be more consistant throughout the series. Well, a couple of weeks to go and we're off... so we'll all see how it pans out I suppose. Good Luck to all the riders, Please Please, NO injuries and some good racing would be nice to see.... Are you reading Mr Olsen....lol.... Like he really reads this, but it makes ya feel better saying something anyway... Snyper1010
Thank you Tomcat im glad you can see i have a good side aswell as a very bad one lol. Although you have me mistaken about the mascot stuff. That was infact Snapper-Racing that had said about being the mascot. I have a tenner on Hans i feel this is his year. He is always their and i think getting out of the EL and all the controversy he had there will allow him to place his mind firmly on racing. Its the age I'm at you know.... going senile. Once you pass 40, its downhill all the way and faster than one of Shane Parkers 650's... Anyhoooo.... You're not all bad young fella, its good to see the younger fans having some sensible input into the rights and wrongs of the sport.

Gemini
So if he's got a Polish passport does that mean he can ride for Poland in the World Cup? If this is the case I wonder if he can be persuaded to get an English passport instead because we could certainly do with talent like him in the team. Jenn
Surely, as he has already represented Russia in the SWC, he cant switch to Polish?
Gemini
Well, I hope not but Rune Holta rode for Norway and then switched to Poland.
spook
As Marvyn Cox did with England and then Germany no matter how much they will want to adopt him we will all know where he initially planted his flag i'm still speechless about Emil tonight........... and especially after his ragged start to the night Edited April 25, 2009 by spook
