Temporary Tracks Cardiff And Ullevi

Recommended Posts

Paul Bellamy has written the following-i quote "A great deal of development work has taken place through the winter months into making our temporary tracks even better and we will be constructing new tracks at Ullevi and Cardiff this year"

Interesting wonder what Ole Olsen and co will be doing differently.

Making sure the shale is dry before they lay it and not like it was in Germany last year that would do for starters

well they can hardly become that much worse can they? but honestly i think its just regular PR nonsense coz they have said things like this before.

Especially about Gbg.

The appointment of the new assistant race director makes no difference to the contracts in place for track building. They stay the same

But there is a very good reason why he was appointed....... for me it makes sense that it was:

a) BSI/FIM starting to wrestle control away from Ole

b.) Ole flagging up that he will need to be replaced

c) two pairs of eyes are better than one pair

If this statement has anything to do with the appointment then i'd suggest it was a)

Ole has taken a fair amount of verbal whacking from the fans and riders over the years not only for farces like in Germany but also for over slick tracks which were always going to result in a lack of passing....... but also for 'interesting' track prep and grading which has been of benefit to certain riders at a certain point in a meeting..................... add his influence over refs and when you weigh it all up the guy has had too much power and there have been question marks over how it has been abused.......................for a company like BSI (or whatever they are calling themselves now) they cannot afford tracks with no passing and they cannot afford for the sport to be seen as bent

You could argue it's better to put up temporary stands in stadia with permanent tracks than put down temporary tracks in another stadium?

In my opinion 1 of the 3 is absolutley correct, another one may be, and the third.... not so sure. As previously mentioned, neither the race director, or assistant have responsibility's for track preparation. That is contracted out for each GP, and is the contracted organisations responsibility

agreed if they dont get it right this year they may have no riders wanting to take part next year never mind the fans not bothering to turn up

Great - The sooner the Grand Prix are got rid of the better Speedway will be. That have been the reason for the decline in Speedway in Great Briain. Let's get back to the old world championships with riders having to ride three qualification rides then semi finals going on to a Grand Final. That would certainly fill Cardiff or any other large stadium

Maybe a bit dear to put up 35,000 extra seats at Newport though Andy!
