rabbit
Never really like his attitude, but as Bob said, can see why with the Idiots cheering him on, ridiculous, even supported the out of control Ben Barker! Really, really really wanted Lewis to have an E/F on that last lap, just so can get some payback to the planks cheering everyones e/f and falls. I heard you'd made some new friends there last night. Sprog1
yeah....I got told that riders were struggling during practice with the 3/4th bend, even the better off the riders were falling off. Was an awful track, so cant say im suprised. Oh, I see you didn't see it yourself, you just "got told". By whom ? Someone who lives in dreamland I should think. Whoever told that the better riders were falling off in practice has a vivid imagination because Lewis didnt even come out for practice, Ben Baker practiced only 4 laps and didnt fall off, Rob Mear and Joe Haines did all sessions without falling off. The only better rider to fall in practice was Tai who hit the airfence after showing off with some wheelies. Never mind what really happened, what you "got told " is good enough for something to moan about.
Sprog1
our standard league meetings are no better in that respect, there is never any urgency Marko., you are suffering from the Speedway Disease of complaining for the sake of complaining. If you check the records for this years standard league meetings you will find that that they all started at 8pm and were all signed off by the referee before 9-40. That is quicker that vitually every other Elite League club. It all very well for people to voice their genuine complaints but it damages speedway in general when people make these complaints about league matches at Lakeside , or any other club for that matter, which are simply not true. Fourentee
Nobody had any problems with bends 3/4 in practice as far as I remember. Tai fell off on bend two. IMHO the standard of racing was poor (and the event, by definition, will always feature a wide range of ability until we have a bigger rider base) and the track looked slick. I don't think the venue is the issue -- racing in last year's final was really good and I posted as much at the time. Angel Eyes, and I ask this with all due respect and some puzzlement, how hectic can what you do be and what kind of bearings take four heats to find? bdjfan
Have to admit £30 for two of us to see what I can only call a badly organised event with some absolutely crazy refereeing decisions, and some even worse fowl mouthed Lewis Bridger Fans now I know where he gets his attitude from stood by us was not my idea of enjoyment. Who on earth chose that track for the under 21 final beggers belief, gaining enrty in the first place was in the dark ages with girls at the tills who didn't have a clue, four paying points but only one entrance! Endless pile ups on the third bend with not a lot of track staff bothering to sort it out. Arena is an Elite League Track which even the Top Elite League Riders have problems with so putting the young lads of the future on it is an attrocious decision. Right I have had my rant now it was nice meeting up with BobC, Phil K Ellie Nan and Al, hope to meet you all again very soon. Also well done to Brendan at 16 scoring 4 points was quite an achievement and you still have a few more years to have a go at the title. Hopefully on a much better track. wjm
I like Lakesides promotion and IMO they do deserve a meeting of some prestige But surely it would benefit the kids to have a meeting on a big track. Qualifying from Lakeside isn't going to benefit them if they end up some where like Poland on a track about 3 times the size. Just my opinion of course. Well done Bridger. Sprog1
what I can only call a badly organised event with and some even worse fowl mouthed Lewis Bridger Fans Arena is an Elite League Track which even the Top Elite League Riders have problems with so putting the young lads of the future on it is an attrocious decision. On your first point I am neither condemning or praising the organisation but by way of explanation it was run under FIM regulations to give the youngsters experience of that kind of meeting before they progress to a higher level. This includes the delay for new tyres berfore the semi-final. Running a meeting in that way with inexperienced riders is always likely to be tempting fate with delays but the youngsters have to start somewhere. This type of meeting with a wide variety of abilites between riders will always have potential for problems but it is important to do things that way for the benefit of young riders needing the experience. Changing to a different track will not make it any easier, although the organisers (who were not Lakeside Speedway, as has been mentioned before) could have got their act together better in the early part of the day. On your second point Lewis can't help his fans. He has been a bit of a pickle in the past but he is maturing. When Rob Mear lost control and went out of the Semi final Lewis went straight over to commiserate and encourage him when he returned to the pits. I felt that last night Lewis was behaving like a champion on and off the track. He seems a totally different person this year and is growing up. Give him time. He is still only 19, and at least going in the right direction. On your third point about Lakeside being a difficult track I would remind you that it was only last year that Urica Pavlic scored a 21 -point maximum in a full Elite league match. At that time he was still 18 years old and younger than most of those riding last night. If we are serious about producing riders to beat the likes of Pavlic then they really have to learn to ride all tracks as well if not better than riders like Pavlic

Arena is an Elite League Track which even the Top Elite League Riders have problems with so putting the young lads of the future on it is an attrocious decision. Have to say that the organisation of the turnstiles was woefully bad and didn't help anybody. When I was near the front, they belatedly decided to let people withthe right money come in through a separate gate, thus allowing people at the back of the queue to jump forward. The whole event was a bit of a shambles and couldn't have inspired any confidence among new fans. As for refereeing decisions, anything particular you were complaining about? Didn't seem too bad to me.

Fourentee
Spoke to Lewis Bridger at some length before the event and was very impressed by his calm, open manner and what he had to say about being a more mature person this season. Thought he conducted himself very well throughout the proceedings and was a worthy winner. Can hardly help the nature of some of his supporters (and I wasn't in that area so couldn't judge how many, what was said, etc). To be honest all the negative stuff that passes around him causes raised eyebrows for me in deepest Wolverhampton. All I've ever seen up here is a talented rider who loves the track and always conducts himself impeccably. I'm not saying he hasn't had his problems elsewhere, but you have to give as you find. I'd have had him at Monmore in a heartbeat and that was before his flying start to this season.
samthepalaceman2
Tai got lucky to first get through to the semi, and secondly to get through from that. Rob Mear was quicker than him but got caught on bend 2 while second to let him through. I'm glad someone mentioned it as I thought exactly the same. Admittedly he was unlucky in his second ride with engine failure (wasn't sure after he went into fence) but in the heat against Bridger when he fell and one rider had an engine failure and the other a puncture on the same lap. I have to admit that I am disappointed to hear the booing by what seems to be Bridger fans, I personally didn't hear anything but I was on the backstraight, but still you are just as bad if you come on here and say I hoped "so and so" had an engine failure etc. I don't think I have ever seen a tractor go round and "polish" the surface, I mean sparks were flying up during the track grade after the first 4 races. srbramble
After last years event, I didn't reckon on going again, but due to no PL action at Rye for Saturday, I went. Oh, how I regretted that decision. Too many riders way out of their depth. I appreciate that they all qualified for the final legitimately, but the lack of quality in the field surely says something to the BSPA. Most of the heat were so predictable, the night was almost a non event. I could count the passes made on 1 hand, and the Lakside track has to play its part in that. Its time for this event to move to another track, if its to be considered a spectacle. It has to be the worst track for this kind of meeting in the whole country. If there is to be this London riders championship held there, to try and impress Boris Johnson enought to invest in speedway for the area, then it won't work chaps. Well done to Bridger for his win, but those who attended the meeting saw it coming after his first ride.
TonyE
Extract from the Lakeside forum: "No one was more disappointed than me regarding Friday. The track staff worked until late on Thursday to ensure we produced a decent race track and everything was in place and cleaned. Unfortunately on Friday it all was caused to go pear-shaped through no fault of ours. Basically,a late start, well over two hours of practice with no grading or watering.Back on after 5.15pm - not enough time to water, grade, rip and get some water into the base and relay the track. Then drag on late, with the hardy few only finishing well past midnight - not much fun at all." Make your own judgements as to why the track was as it was last Friday!! KevtheRev
Only spoilt by the neanderthal Bridger supporters next to us.Everytime Wuffy was on track, their language had to be heard to be believed.Cheering when he crashed in ht1,asking the other riders to 'put him through the fence next time'.Same everytime he was on track.Shameful behaviour from so called adults. While I admit Bridger was easily the best rider on the night, soley for the reasons above, boy was I willing ANYONE to stop the inevitable. Can only agree. We were on the second bend and the two women and their 2 kids in front of us were just appauling. Their awful baheaviour was only matched by there bad hairdo's and awful long skirts that made them look like extra's from When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth"
