jackofdiamonds
Of interest to those of us of a certain age I would imagine. I've found quite a lot of sites dealing with speedway both general and club basis, and find the majority to be fascinating . Which ones do you go back to and therefore recommend to the rest of us. Feel free to mention any you may be involved with.

Dons67
Visit the following two regularly. Informative and bring back so many memories. And I always look forward to Ove Fundin's quarterly letter on his website. http://www.speedwayresearcher.org.uk/ http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk/index.htm

martinmauger
Here (was!) my own CPD Vikings Hull Speedway site from 2005: It ended up being very basic due to lack of time and the sotftware of choice being suddenly unvavailable. "A bad workman should never blame his tools" of course but I built the site for a University Degree module and had I been fully aware of the situation beforehand I would have waited until the circunstances were more ideal. I think I got 70% or so for it. Some of the picture links have broken, some of the layout is altered, sometimes it freezes (what fun!) and I'm surprised it still kinda works. But I have't been able to update or maintain it as I've lost the log-in password(!), but the text still seems to be in place. I was always going to re-build it from scratch but never got around to it and certainly don't have the time or the inclination now. Feel free to let me know what you think, good or bad I really won't mind at all. I deleted the link as it seemed to stop working ; maybe I should start again form scratch aferall....... TwoMinuteWarning
Those interested in pre-war speedway may be aware of the excellent site on Gus Kuhn at http://www.guskuhn.net/ The site is compiled by a granddaughter of the great man, and has now been expanded to include some of his contemporaries, with pages about Frank Arthur, Sprouts Elder, Eric Langton, Roger Frogley, etc. See http://www.guskuhn.net/GKuhn/Contemp/ContempIndex.htm Statistically speaking, nothing beats the Speedway Researcher site at http://www.speedwayresearcher.org.uk/ which is trying to compile full records on every speedway meeting ever held in the UK (including second-halves) Dare I mention my own site, International Speedway, at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/intspeedway/ which has links to many other sites on historical speedway on the Links page. arnieg
For those of a statistical bent there are basically five sites that must be bookmarked. In no particular order: 1) Speedway Researcher (as already mentioned) 2) http://www.lubusports.pl/mat05/index.php particularly for its detailing of national championships from around the world 3) http://www.speedway.org/history/ for Swedish and World Championship results 4) Roman Lach's Polish speedway history at http://www.rlach.republika.pl/ 5) And my favourite - Brian's international speedway site (see above)
speedyguy
If you want to have a browse over the rest of the Easter Holiday, these might be worth a look (one not strictly speedway but there's a lot of speedway riders involved): http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/oldtimespeedway http://londonspeedways.proboards.com/index.cgi http://midgetcarpanorama.proboards.com/index.cgi

Guest
Two of my own: - Newcastle and Defunct Tracks And Australias best Brian Darby and all of those named above The above excellent sites are very much alive and worth a visit. If you want to have a browse over the rest of the Easter Holiday, these might be worth a look (one not strictly speedway but there's a lot of speedway riders involved): http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/oldtimespeedway http://londonspeedways.proboards.com/index.cgi http://midgetcarpanorama.proboards.com/index.cgi These sites are also still active. London Speedways especially carries a wealth of statistical data that's worth looking at. Much of this was provided by the respected speedway historian the late Bryan Tungate. Midget Car Panorama also has data that includes information about some close Links between the four-wheelers and the many speedway riders who also drove them. norbold
Since this thread was started over six years ago by Jack of Diamonds, his own site, Defunct Tracks, has gone from strength to strength and for those of us interested in the history of the sport is a first class resource and makes for very interesting reading. I could spend days at a time on it! I would highly recommend it to everyone with any interest in speedway history. You will find much fascinating detailed information on there together with some amazing photographs.
