diamond@heart
Can't see Nicholls doing much this year, he does not seem to be able to cope with the pressure that the top riders can and the GP puts on riders. He has been in speedway along time now and in the GP's a long time now and has not moved forward in my opinion, he is fine on his own patch in the EL, but take him out of his own back yard and his is frankly rubbishe. My main problem with Nicholls is I think he thinks he is better than he actually is. British GP 2008 was the worst for me, he had an ideal chance to win it or get on the podium and he choked big style. Also in the Gp's, when he is passed by one rider, you usually find that within a lap he has gone to the back of the field and just cannot come from the back, the best race I have seen him in was the one he had with Dryml last year (the one with handbags), but the determination and willingness to win from Nicholls are hard to find and you have to wait a long while before those moments come around. I prefer Harris, I think last year was a bit of a disaster for him but hopefully he can rebuild himself and improve again this year. I hope Nicholls and Harris prove me and a number of people on here wrong but my head tells me we will be have this discussion this time next year. Mark
I'm surprised that Diamond cannot remember Nicholls coming from behind. The race you quote (Dribble) he DID come from behind. He is rarely away from the tapes first. If he loses a stone in weight, gets fitter, he will do really well. A brave rider who is very determined. Let's get behind the Brits

screm
Someone needs to be because the other riders certainly won't be. Scott Nicholls sole reason to miss EL speedway this year is to do better in the GPs,I feel this is mis-guided and Scott will come to realise this.He wont be World Champ, not this year or any other. Much the same with Harris who is very lucky still to be in,one good night at Cardiff seems to have paved the way for more of the same non-achievements as last year.Harris should have been giving the boot for this year. spook
I was thinking about this the other night and I think that although it feels like every year is crucial for Scott ... this one really is........... he'll never have a better year to break through with some of the older guys above him perhaps finally reaching the end of the road? Scott actually has an amazing record at either just missing out on the semi or just making it...... if he can manage to improve that to either just making it or making it comfortably he would start having a chance of winning a GP

Starman2006
So why hasnt he taken the past years seriously then. Not got what it takes to win. Then again he has got tatum with him. No disrespect To Scott or any other rider, but as somebody pointed it out, a lot of the older riders are now coming towards the end of their careers, Scott is still only 31, he has imo 5 more years at the top. Of the remainder of the field, Scott is vastly more experienced. IMO he's just got to continue what he was doing last season, in the past he's been rather a soft touch, he's become more aggressive on the bike, he needs to focus on his starts. he needs to use his head in certain situations, remembering, he has four laps, he hasn't got to do it all on lap 1, he's more than capable of winning races from the back, he is a natural motorcyclist!. His aim imo should be to make the final in every GP, if he doesn't then just amas as many points as he can, then move on!. I don't agree with him leaving the EL out, but on the flip side i can see his point!. As for Kelvin Tatum being in his corner, if thats what Scott wants fine. But i feel personally he'd be far better off having Neil Middleditch in his corner!. Scotts got the abillity, Neil is a very good motivator!!. spook
I think Kelvin could be a masterstroke for Scott........... the guy has been there seen it and done it with the exception of being world champion ... and he wasnt far away from that! He has the family equipment and know how to get the best out of Scott's machinery..... and if the rumour that I heard is true and that Scott had so many engines that he never knew what was good and what was the best to use for x circuit .... then Kelvin will definitely iron that issue out Scott used to have one of the fastest bikes in the gp field and that all changed for a good couple of seasons....... the 2nd half of last season saw glimpses of him having a fast bike once again which for someone who will never be the fastest gater is all important Personally despite feeling like ive been tortured by Scott for all these years I still hold out hope that he can improve but I think his likeliest chance is battling with AJ for the rights to take over Gollob/Adams/Hancock's positions

As i said he has the abillity to be a top 6 rider, but end of the day its down to him to sort things out, from top to bottom!!.
