f-s-p
But why would he rather ride in a long-track meeting (I think it was actually a grass track) instead of in his country's national speedway championship final? Does anyone know how often Kylmäkorpi has contested the Finnish National Championship in the past? Did he ever win the Finnish title? According to my stats he's been in it in 2002 and 2003. Never won it though, those were the years when Laukkanen was on top of his game. Money would be a safe bet as to why not ride in the Finnish final. The actual difference between a weekend in Germany and a trip to Finland for the final just for saturday while taking along his bikes (I'd guess) would be thousands of Euros in favour of a weekend in Germany. Also probably early in the season he was hoping he'd be riding for Indianerna on the tuesday before the Finnish final + Lakeside commitments during the week and then Poland on the sunday after the Finnish final, back to Lakeside and then again Sweden on tuesday. It was a very good meeting on saturday and with his current form he would not have won it. Edited August 3, 2009 by f-s-p
Bream
About Autio's "no-xray" thing. That is simply unbelievable! Because what I have heard and seen the pics. It was "High energy crash". And there should be atleast neck x-ray and usualy chest too. But trauma-CT would be the best. It will cause more radiation but you find everything from those pics. Il bet that there has been "arvauskeskus(guess center, name for finnish health center)" doctor doing summertime job in that local hospital. What I have learned this summer is that if you have a good doctor in private sector you should use him/her.

f-s-p
I updated some Finnish speedway history online. Here are the TOP3 of almost all the finals ever with dates and track information. I have loads of old clips to go through and getting more all the time. The plan is to sort this all out in the next 15 years or so. Individual final 1955-2009. U21 final 1990-2009. Best pairs 1972-2009. f-s-p
Extraliiga on sunday at Seinäjoki. Excellent racing on near perfect conditions for Finnish speedway. Only thing lacking was the spectators. Katajisto had a great weekend both at Kuusankoski and Seinäjoki and was shadowed only by the brilliant performance of Jari Mäkinen at Seinäjoki. This was Mäkinen's first EL max by my stats. Hot of the pitlane gossip at Seinäjoki is that Mäkinen has done a deal and leaves to UK on wednesday to ride PL for the rest of the season. Joni Kitala, 8. Aarni Heikkilä, 9. Joni Keskinen Saturday for Hallstavik Hautamäki is dropped out and all the team positions should move forward a step. f-s-p
Finnish longtrack final at Vaasa 1. Appe Mustonen 2. Rene Lehtinen 3. Kaj Laukkanen Riss made a new track record of 80,80 second averaging 133,66 km/h before levieng early to catch his ferry. Further details maybe sunday evening. EDIT: I lost interest in keeping the score pretty early yestarday after all the riders had turn brown/grey/whatever and their 10 year old helmet colors all looked the same. After the meeting (4h10min) I just wanted to leave so didn't get the results at the track. Thats why I still dont have them almost exactly 24 hrs later.
