f-s-p
Good day for Jari.....but what was the opposition like?I am never sure if i have heard of these Finnish guys or not What opposition?  Nice to see Kalle Kivistö making a comeback after a year away. Teemu Mattila came back late last season after an absence of about 10 years. Joni Kitala and Aarni Heikkilä have decent scores too, but I wasn't there so dont know better. Mustonen wasn't at his best, suffering from flu all week. Laukkanen was clearly the best on the day and Timo Lahti 2nd. Tomi Reima was squeezed at the back in the start of the 5 man A-final and didn't find a way to pass Autio. Then on the last lap he hit a hole while challenging Autio that put him on the slippery stuff and fell off. Laukkanen stated afterwards that speedway as a profession is now over and his ambition is on the longtrack and goal there is to get in to the GP in two years. He's always been happy to talk about money, but now he said that speedway hasn't been fun for a couple of years now, so why push it. As a hobby it's still fun and he had a good day out yesterday. f-s-p
Well done young OwiĹĽyc Looked horrible though... I believe he started riding only last summer. They bought a bike for him this spring but had only practised about fifteen laps on wednesday before the meeting. The facilities are good in Pori and the track is hard enough, so it should be easy to learn the tricks and improve as the summer goes on. Lake Bodom Comet
Very good crowd for Finnish speedway , better than some Premier League meetings over here and maybe the odd Elite League one too!!
f-s-p
Very good crowd for Finnish speedway , better than some Premier League meetings over here and maybe the odd Elite League one too!! Yet is was a huge? disappointment. They had given out about 9k free tickets out in the schools and such and were expecting to break 1000 spectators. But the crappy part of it was that it was raining all day in the city, but at the track (10km from the city) not a drop all day...
Lake Bodom Comet
Bloody typical of the weather!!!! Â But full marks to the club for trying to actively promote speedway and hopefully some of those people who came along on a frre ticket may be tempted to return for a future meeting

Bream
Yeap, many riders had problems with slick track to get grip. I tried too hard and fell once in the first bend and in my last heat I tried to pass Owizyc from the inside. Hit his back tyre and woke up at ambulance.. with shoulder blade and 3 ribs broken. 2 moths of rest now.. They should all be made as hard as possible here to keep things even and allow everyone a chance to get the bike to slide. Make's better entertainment. It was quite a spectacular somersault over the handlebars. Good thing the bike missed you as it landed from the 2 metres in the air where it went for a moment. Bream
Compared to last years of Finnish speedway. Tracks has been great. Like in Seinäjoki in first KaupunkiCup meeting. But when we take back few years in our minds.. those tracks were more like MX. There was some great idea that racing in terrible conditions would make better riders. But it was horrible when only league riders where able to ride. edit: I just wanted to do my part for entertaining Edited May 23, 2009 by Bream
