Sheff Tigers
Well done to Ricky and all the other riders for a good meeting.
GeneralMelchett
Well done Ricky so very happy he won!!!. but no matter how much we like it theres always going to be soebody with some track advantage or home track advantage Indeed. I'm not his biggest fan but he seems to have a ridden in a very mature way tonight and for my money deserved his success. I wouldn't have had him down as a pre meeting favourite to be honest. The fact is so few other venues in this league can offer the facilities and racestrip that Sheffield can and does. Overall a good meeting - after Howes majestic sweep in the semi-final and with him off gate 4 again I thought he might win. Another lap and the fast gaining Ward might have got him but it doesn't do for a nipper like him ti win everything first time. The crowd would suggest that this meeting is possibly here to stay at Owlerton for perhaps some time?
tigerblues
Congratulations Ricky.. you made me one very proud Sheffield fan tonight. A well deserved win IMO
Cue Ball
I agree that it would probably bring about a fairer result to have it on a neutral track and that should be the case in an ideal world. But they have tried moving the events to neutral tracks and it never seems to work. At least Sheffield is a first class facility and normally provides top notch racing. Think Ricky thoroughly deserved the win on tonights performance, he fought hard for his points and did well when coming from behind.
squall
i can see why the bspa decide to hold pl event on pl tracks each year, but i think they should be shared around more often. this will stop the 'sheffield rider' winning it each year. You mean like last year, yeh?
Van Helsing
Well done to Ricky! think this just shows everyone that he has finally stepped out of the shadows at Sheffield and is now an out and out heatleader! Always loved his style and have always wanted to see him in a Glasgow race jacket. Great performance! P.S Well done William Lawson on a fantastic showing for Glasgow! spin king
How sad someone comes on this forum, and congratulate's every rider in the final bar the winner, the words bitter and twisted spring to mind,if ever I get like that somebody please shoot me. Well Done Ricky Ashworth, it was a fine win in what has been a difficult season, and today is the best that I have seen him ride at Sheffield in a long long time. Did Ricky have home track advantage,of course he did,I would be a liar if I tried to deny it, but the riders on show today were mainly the top riders in the league and at the end of the day the top boys can more or less put in a decent performance at all tracks. What people need to remember is that neutral track has been tried and was a disaster money wise,so looking at the geography of the Premier League and the stadia and infrastructure Sheffield is the obvious choice for the PLRC, so at the end of the day the BSPA are always likely to award the meeting to Sheffield. I can tell you your boy Wee Willie did himself and Glasgow speedway very proud today, the Berwick contingent were spitting feathers about him, but I said to people before the meeting he had a very good meeting for Glasgow at Sheffield and I thought he could do very well, many thought I gone mad. Come on you Tigers
Well Done Ricky! Great to see a british rider winning it, very dissapointed to see Kings Lynn fans booing Ashworth. He rode his heart out tonight and the only thing Kings Lynn fans could do was boo him . Congratulations Ricky, Hope to see more in the future Edited September 27, 2009 by Come on you Tigers

Canadian Star
If Kings Lynn fans booed, shame on you. Kings Lynn fans used to be recognised as being appreciative of a good performance no matter by whom. Congratulations to Ricky Ashworth, he may not be the most popular rider at Saddlebow Road, but today he was up against the best riders in the League, and he rode well enough to win. ashman
just come on line now . dont know the top 123 results but it seems , ricky ashworth won it .previous posts piss me right off . home advantage means nothing at this event .stoney went through the same crap .ex sheffield bount to win and he did so. you know why it takes more than just home experience to win meetings like this. stand up young ricky and take a bow. its something your worthy of, also youve been as always an absolute cracking guest when youve guested for the comets. a true profesional. couldnt have gone to a nicer bloke. and a young british rider . Bellers101
Exactly!, to be honest i don't know how people like bellers or diamond rock can comment on this, they weren't even there . Why not? You have commented on many meetings you haven't been at. Like i said, take nothing away from Ashworth he has done well but until they hold these meetings at neutral tracks I will not attend. Maybe Ashworth would have won no matter what track it was held at but we will never know. If the home rider or team wins questions will always be asked or are you too naive to realise that ? I may have been a bit harsh, but its very frustrating when you get home from a meeting and you already get people moaning about home track advantage when Ricky put in a fantastic performance. And also how can away fans feel ripped off they saw a fantastic meeting with brilliant atmosphere.
