He's right, but I think if any of the four finalists had made the start they would have 'smoked' the final.

Interesting comments from Proctor, although I'm not sure that holding it at Lynn would solve the home advantage problem :D

Ty must be either trying to be ironic or trying to prove some kind of point!!

It's clear to all that Ashworth only won as the meeting was @ Sheffield but he can only beat what's in front of him!!

i saw proctor in the pits when ricky was making his speech and he looked like he was crying and sean wilson was calming him down.

ward was stood next to him having an interview, i must say i do not like darcy wards attitude at all, yes he is a good rider but he is a miserable to55er when he doesn't win.

proctor blew his chance of having the best gate in the qualifiers, and he has beaten ashworth around owlerton a few times this year, ricky obviously wanted it more last night

Big hello to all the usual suspects who obviously made their mark in the Tavern.Sorry i couldn't meet you in there unfortunately none of my passengers could drive & if that wasnt bad enough one of them *dont worry b4l i wont name you* has developed a bizarre illness which is like a taurette's allergy whereby when he goes past certain Sheffield football stadiums he coughs & sneezes obscenities.

Strong words from Ty Proctor in the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette tonight.

"Take the meeting to anywhere else and bring it on"

"It's Ricky Ashworths home track of course he's going to win it. He rides here every week. Take it to Kings Lynn, take it anywhere else and there would have been a diferent winner".

Saying what most people are thinking. Far from sour grapes, just common sense! Ashworth wouldn't have won anywhere else!

OH DEARY DEARY ME, is this same Ty Proctor, who was talking it large in the Redcar local press how he was going to win the meeting, funny I don't recall him mentioning Ricky Ashworth having home advantage.

I think young Proctor needs to put his dummy back firmly in his mouth, and yes very much sour grapes.

ward is a talent but an arrogant arsehole,so why did he not smoke ricky in their heat ,im starting to dislike this cocky aussie a lot.

It's called being passionate and wanting to win.....a trait that most Brits simply don't have!!!

Darcy is a little star (no pun intended  ) and will be more successful that any of his British counterparts!

There is no bigger strop when he loses that a certain Aussie gonna-be-three-times-world-champion - These young Aussies learn from the best :approve:

He's arrogant, cocky and hates losing....sounds like a future World Champion to me :D

May well be the case, however I offered him my congratulations on finishing 2nd and gave him a consolatory pat on the back outside the panorama room. Could not even offer me a response!! Now know what to do in future - keep away  Will offer my congratulations else where in future!!

Was going to post something very similar but you have summed it up almost perfectly.

Sure Darcy (and Proctor by the sound of it) need to learn how to lose with a little more grace, but I wish one or two Brits were more like that. If our riders hated losing as much we might be a little better as a nation.

Finally :)

If i were Darcy i'd be disappointed too. Not taking anything away from Ricky but from a rider's point of view they're going to see it the same way as half the fans on here.

In the end you don't need to be Mr Sociable to be a speedway rider - it helps and endears you to the fans, but its not the only thing.

I'm still suffering the after effects, a bit like what you suffer from when you go past the Riverside stadium *cough* 3-2 *cough*

I've been told over facebook that Michal has been suffering from flu, rode with it at Redcar on thursday, at Berwick on the saturday and simply had no energy for sunday, I feel sorry for him now but at least hes going to become our top points scorer on saturday, what a legend :approve: .

But to the rest who dared to beat him...this is b4l's 2 minute tangent

Not a good weekend sporting wise but it's been a fantastic weekend. Don't worry the mighty Blades will be back and bouncing

Too true and there is nothing wrong with a bit of confident arrogance, all true winners have it!

Both Ward and Proctor will go onto great things in this sport baring injury because of it.

all the riders have beaten ricky around owlerton i think, and ricky has beaten all the riders also which made it a wide open meeting as was said by all the experts,so wheres this big home advantge myth, ricky was pumped up for this and did what he needed to do to win by coming from behind when he had to,did ward or procter expect choice of gate by not top scoring,a very sour pair of aussies.
