Moorski
A good meeting on a well prepared track and Ashworth was a deserved winner, he rode very well tonight against a strong PL field.
squall
Sheffield vs Edinburgh, Thursday 17th September (The last meeting at Sheffield before today) Ricky Ashworth = 3. Ryan Fisher = Paid 15 max. Did Ricky have such huge home advantage then?

terrythetan
Congratulations to Ricky ( i scored 3 pts in my last meeting at Sheffield) Ashworth. A hollow victory tho, due to home track advantage, not deserved IMO. All the media, t'nternet etc etc had Ricky down to win, no brainer really, why pay the admission money when you know Ricky's nailed on to win it, Home track advantage yet again , just like when Sean Wilson used to clean up I really envy next years representative for Sheffield, cos you don't have to make a start? you don't have to race? you don't need to pass etc etc, just turn up, because you have "HOME TRACK ADVANTAGE" served to you on a silver platter Win Win Win situation every time..........................not! (where was it last week and the FOUR other times we've lost at home this year!)he stood up when he needed to and made it count !!! good on yer rickster
Pinny
nice to see Jordan Frampton scoring some decent points and not far off a semi spot. hope to see him back as a Wasp in 2010. quite obviously home track advantage for ashworth as its doubtful he would of won it anywhere else, but he can only beat whats in front of him. sheffield is the spiritual home of the PLRC, like Peterborough is the home of the fours etc... Fozzie4388
Makes me the Laugh the people what are complaining about the Home Track advantage are people what didnt even go to the meeting. If they d been there they d have seen that Ricky had to battle for Every Point. Regarding Home Track Advantage if it was Surely Compton should won cause apart from this year hes rode for Sheffield since the year dot and i didnt see much difference to the track then it has been its usual excellent surface. Full Credit to William Lawson and Jordan Frampton who i dont think anyone give a chance before start of the meeting but really showed that they could hack it with the big boys in the league Big Disappointments for me Were Johnno, Karlsson and Topinka. stooge
Well done Ricky on your win, its all well and good moaning after the event about home advantage, but he still had to go out there and perform. Some tracks could offer a better race strip, some tracks could maybe match the facilities, but as a complete package Sheffield offers the lot imo, and as a Stoke fan thats hard to say Maybe on a different track results would be different etc blah blah, its all IFs, thing is the bloke won it fair and square, so well done fella. Lewis
My first time at Sheffield, nice stadium & facilities...absolute crap car park! lol (took 40 minutes to get out of it). Racing was good but not much passing, seemed that once you got past that 2nd bend it was a procession with the exception being Ashworth who if remember right came back from last to 2nd in 1 race, he rode fabulously & fully deserved his win. Of course being at home will have helped with having his bike set up but no doubt he was hungrier, faster & more committed than the others. Congratulations! Thought Howe would win it after his 3 maximums out of gate 4 but it wasn't to be but I'm pleased with his showing anyway. A few surpises for sure with Fisher, Johnston etc not doing so well. Overall I thoroughy enjoyed the meeting.
squall
Right, say this year was a neutral track...where? Swindon? Well Fisher rides for them... Wolves? Proctor rides for them... Peterborough? Ward is the track record holder... Coventry? Frampton rides for them... Christ, even the GPs have home track advantage
Moorski
Home advantage or not You still have to go out and win the races, Darcy Ward pushed Ashworth all the way in that final and he was also beaten by Kenni Larsen & Jason Lyons, you still have to hold your nerve and in Speedway anything can happen. Lewis
Big Disappointments for me Were Johnno, Karlsson and Topinka. I'm surprised you were disappointed with Karlsson, I didn't expect anything from him, hes been struggling in the last few matches & doesn't have any power, hope he gets it sorted for Redcar on Thursday. I was actually suprised he even got a point, like somebdy else posted, if it had been earlier in the season then it may have been different but I guess that goes for a lot of riders. The SAINT
Exactly!, to be honest i don't know how people like bellers or diamond rock can comment on this, they weren't even there . TYPICAL GEORDIES
sheffieldscot
Tenacious, motivated, determined and downright Awesome! Well done Ricky my son. You came of age tonight against a top class field and you deserve your success.!! That was Ricky's best ever Owlerton display by a country mile tonight. he was the best rider on display today and thoroughly deserved his victory. A well prepared racetrack, quality competitors and a great crowd produced a superb atmosphere. Also really enjoyed the banter with all the fans from up and down the country, you are all a credit to your sport!!! To those who will no doubt say - "home track advantage" I have only one thing to say . Don't care!! The best rider on the day won. If you had saw him against the Monarchs a week ago last Thursday, you would have given him no chance. His victory tonight brings a a well known phrase to mind - " The road to success is paved with aspiration, perspiration, desperation & inspiration". Long may you savour your victory tonight Ricky and it was a real pleasure to talk to such a surprised & humble young man after your victory! Tigerite
Many Congratulations to Super Ricky Ashworth on a deserved PLRC win. To see Ricky come through the ranks at Sheffield and win the big one should be a proud moment for all Tigers fans :-) By PLRC standards it was a fairly decent meeting with a decent amount of passing and some hard racing. As for a neutral track, remember we tried the PLRC at Swindon the other year, Crap Track, Crap Crowd and Crap Meeting. Whilever the PLRC has good crowds and makes big money for the BSPA it will remain at Owlerton, like the 4s at Worky and Pairs at Somerset!!! Mark
lots of good points from tonight as everyone gave their all but the negatives were - over 3hrs to run 22 heats is mind mumbing, boring and too slow - the stunt rider with just a wheelie trick was a waste of time - lack of passing and processional racing was disappointing well done to Ashworth as, despite a slight advantage of being at home, was the only rider to come from behind a couple of time. he deserved the win so well done to him.
