Ozyace
Taken from Rocket Rods www.speedwaybikeaustralia.com LEIGH ADAMS HEADS INTERNATIONAL LINE UP Mildura’s ten times and reigning Australian Speedway Champion, Leigh Adams, will be one of the star attractions at Neerabup’s Pinjar park next Saturday night (Jan 31) when he takes part in the inaugural ‘Western Big One’. The brilliant Adams, who has won 8 World Championship Speedway Grands Prix, 3 World Team Cup Championships and the World under 21 Championship, has not competed in Western Australia since the year 2000 and says he is really excited to be coming back. “I love Perth and the whole way of life over there, but my reason for coming is to win”, he said. “I’ve been meaning to get over there, but the European season has been getting longer and time is always the issue”. “When Lee (Redmond) approached me about this it just sounded like the perfect way to come back to the state and put something into the West Australian scene. “There are some really keen young kids in WA now and if I can encourage them at all by taking part then that will be great”. Adams will have his work cut out in the ‘Big One’ with British star, Simon Stead, 2008 Australian Champion, Chris Holder, Elite League star Steve Johnston as well as Ty Proctor, Cory Gathercole, James Holder and Nathan Hedley all making the trip. Half a dozen locals will also get a shot at the title including state champion Frank Smart and up and comers Shelby Rutherford and Daniel Winchester. Pre programme starts at 6pm with main programme starting at 7pm. For further information log on to www.speedwaybikeaustralia.com I gotta say the track surrounds looks sweet with the new turf & tiered viewing areas. BigFatDave
It'd be better at Kwinana IMHO. Pinjar's not exactly a Long Track, eh? Give my regards to Nath.
