a61
Great meeting - it was sooo good to see some speedway for the time this season Adams and Crump were a joy to watch I must say. Barker, Woffi and Lindgren were on truly excellent form as well. A few passes but gate 3 was rubbish all afternoon. Also it was nice that Roynon was there to see it. I saw him walking around with the neck brace on and he looked so uncomfortable, poor guy get well soon. Edited March 29, 2009 by a61
GeneralMelchett
I'll be one of the only people there in a Green Bay Packers top Good taste did it have Farve on the back?? if so i walked past you thinking wow is there 2 Green bay fans in Owlerton today? My first meeting of the season and good to see some of the top names riding in Sheffield and a decent crowd. Adams classy as ever, some effortless riding from him - he makes it look all so easy. The track was very dry and there wasn't as much passing as I hoped although there was some good action, mainly round the outside on the first / second bend. YorkshirePudding
what a great meeting it was and nice to see the terraces packed. the riders that stood out for me were crump, adams, ashworth, tai and barker. all the riders were giving it their best and there was some great racing. the track was a little dry but i dont think it would of made much of a difference anyways. bring on edinburgh! Killer Cat from Mars
Really enjoyed this meeting - some good racing - Adams and Crump as always worth the admission, but the real joy today was seeing Tai Woffinden and Ben Barker riding so well, in fact they put Scott Nicholls to shame! Good crowd too, seemed to be from lots of different clubs as well. Overall a good day, and all for a great cause.
Silver Bee
Average meeting but well worth my 15 quid (and four for a programme ) given the cause. Really rather disappointed that Crump + Woffy decided not to have a run-off, plenty of fans, me included, wanted to see one. Couple of good heats, the best being provided by the Bees themed race between Barker, Sitera, Nicholls and Kennett. Cracking stuff. Nicholls was hilariously bad. If he was trying, then hahahaha, if not, shame on him. Still provided me with plenty of entertainment Sitera looked good, the best I've seen him so far, his biggest problem being the amount of room he gives riders trying to pass him. Just seem to move out of their way. The one time he did try and stop someone coming through, it was Compton, who had he not yielded to, would extremely easily have t-boned him after the third bend dive. Barker looked very good. Didn't have him down as a 'Sheffield rider' before the PLRC but he looks pretty damn good there. Kennett was, as expected, rather poor. Not his sort of track at all and was found lacking against riders he really shouldn't have been. For the rest, Woffinden was excellent, Adams after a dodgy first effort was untouchable, and Crump didn't have quite the pace that Adams had. Lindgren was average but was certainly trying hard all afternoon and Ashworth did very well in some cracking company so well done to him. SCB
and Ashworth did very well in some cracking company so well done to him. What about him sticking his foot out on the back straight when the referee could not see it and kicking Lindgren? If I was Lindgren I'd have punched the little sod.
WembleyLion
Just back home in Bucks after a 3 hour journey. I was pleased to see a good turnout for a very worthy cause and it was nice to catch up with a number of friends from all over. Apart from the first couple of laps in his first race Adams looked very fast. Also impressed by Tai and Ben and young Marc Owen from the juniors. Re Crump and Woffinden, I wonder if it was because they'd only just raced each other, albeit that's a rather lame suggestion really! From where I was sat, it wasn't for any lack of effort from Nicholls in a couple of races, the track is still worryingly slick. Barker hasn't really pulled that many trees up at Sheffield previously, so I agree, he was great - on the opposite side of the fence so to speak, that was probably Davey Watt's worst meeting at Sheffield! I enjoyed the whole occasion really and what a pleasure to have an individual meeting in the "proper" format!!! Well done to Leigh Adams, he gets moaned about at times for being "boring", I prefer to call it "quietly efficient" I'm guessing the organisers etc. will be really pleased with how it all turned out as well - weather, no hitches etc.

lucifer sam
Fantastic to see so many people there today for such a good cause. Paul Ackroyd, the main driving force behing this meeting, deserves a huge pat on the back. Let's hope it becomes an annual event. And yes folks, I can confirm that I sold a programme to SCB, even though I warned him in advance of the somewhat scary photo on page 30. All the best Rob
