M.D
Just noticed that this years Elite League Pairs, Which will be held on the 8th August at 7:30, will be raced at Arlington Stadium, Eastbourne for 2009. Should open up the field with a few track specialists riding for other sides..
Silver Bee
Is this a BSPA ploy to make sure that the home team doesn't win?
samthepalaceman2
It's to celebrate 80 years of speedway at Arlington.
Silver Bee
It's to celebrate 80 years of speedway at Arlington. I'd have done that by tarmacing it and building a proper track there instead
M.D
taken from www.elite-eagles.com As the meeting is a BSPA event, under normal circumstances, a season ticket will not be valid. Once again Bob Dugard has said that if anyone, who has an Eastbourne season ticket 2009 will be welcome to the meeting and the club will sort out any payment to the BSPA This is an extra meeting for the club also an extra meeting for season ticket holders at no extra cost! fair play to The Eastbourne promotion
SCB
I've given Dugard a hard time in the past over things but fair play to him for that.
Fourentee
Is this a BSPA ploy to make sure that the home team doesn't win? Cruel, very cruel. But not unamusing.

Yorkshire Ace
awful choice of track, never gonna do anything as a country in world cups until we make the big meetings on the biggest tracks.

Err, this thread is about the Elite League Pairs, can't quite see why you want to bring up the subject of the World Cup, unless it's just to have a cheap dig at Eastbourne speedway ? sancho
awful choice of track, never gonna do anything as a country in world cups until we make the big meetings on the biggest tracks. So every big meeting at Sheffield then
HBKPCNBob
I believe this will be a nice change having the Pairs at a different track. May make this trip along the coast for this one, with Poole's pairing of Pedersen and Holder (averages and injury-free permitting) will be a fave for the title. Fourentee
awful choice of track, never gonna do anything as a country in world cups until we make the big meetings on the biggest tracks. Is there some kind of British-only qualification for the EL Pairs that has passed me by?

Australia - big tracks, Poland - big tracks, Sweden - big tracks almost every country in the world has "big" tracks. Riders learn more at smaller tracks as they are more techincal and unique. Anyway rant over, the track for the EL Pairs is not going to make a difference to the WC.

Van Helsing
Because our youth system over the last 10 years has been an absolute joke. Most of the countries mentioned above have 80cc leagues/meetings in place. Plus kids growing up in denmark, australia and poland have much better access to equipment and track time. And its cheaper for them than someone starting out over here. Any speedway authority that turns down the help of Erik Gundersen should be taken out back shot. His continuous help and teaching towards Emil Sajfutdinov over the last 3 years in Russia is testament to the great mans teaching skills. GB is very very close to being relagated to the 6th speedway nation in the world. Edited January 25, 2009 by Van Helsing
