Tom P Madsen Testimonial

Recommended Posts

TOM P Madsen is set to stage his Testimonial meeting at King’s Lynn on Friday, March 20.

The Dane, who has just recently agreed a loan deal with Stoke for the 2009 season, will be celebrating ten-years in British Speedway.

The 31-year-old first arrived on these shores to ride for Berwick in 1999 and has since raced for a variety of clubs, which include Ipswich, Oxford, Belle Vue, Mildenhall and Reading.

During this time he has proved himself to be a reliable and popular team-man for all his teams, but will be going back to King’s Lynn to stage his big event, where he spent several enjoyable seasons racing between 2000-2004.

Madsen said: “It seems like only yesterday that I first came over to Britain to ride and here we are ten years later thinking organising about a Testimonial.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here and have always given my British clubs number one priority.

“I now live permanently just a few minutes away from the King’s Lynn track, so I suppose it’s quite fitting that I should be staging my meeting there. I always enjoyed riding at the Norfolk Arena track and I still have a lot of sponsors in the area.

“I’d like to thank the Stars promotion for giving me the opportunity to stage it there. Buster Chapman (King’s Lynn promoter) has always been a massive assistance since I first came to ride over here. He’s been like my English dad; helping me get set-up off-track and generally looking after me.

“Now that I’ve got a date and venue confirmed I’ll be focusing all my energies on my meeting. I’m determined to put on a good show for the supporters.

“I have a few things in mind as to what I’d like to do on the night and what riders will be invited.

“In fact, my former Reading team-mate Ulrich Ostergaard has already agreed to ride, plus one former and another current Grand Prix rider have also accepted invitations.

“I’m very pleased with how things have gone so far and it promises to be a very good night.”

Further news updates will be issued in due course.

DARCY CONFIRMED FOR MADSEN TESTIMONIAL

DARCY Ward is the latest name to be added to the line-up for Tom P Madsen’s Testimonial meeting at King’s Lynn on Friday, March 20.

The highly-rated Australian will be helping the Dane celebrate ten-years of racing in the British League.

Ward impressed during his appearances on British shale during the 2008 season and as a result, has earned himself a full contract with King’s Lynn for their forthcoming Premier League campaign.

Aged just 16, the Queensland born rider is just starting out on what is already showing all the signs of being a promising career in the sport.

An excited Madsen said: “I’m really pleased that Darcy has agreed to ride in my meeting and with how things are going in general.

“He’s an exciting rider and his inclusion in the meeting should create plenty of interest with the home fans. Also with the meeting being so early in the season it will probably be many people’s first chance to see this talented teenager in action.

“Some more riders will possibly be confirmed next week. We are just waiting on the issue of the fixture lists so we can clarify what teams and riders are racing elsewhere that evening.

“There will be plenty of things happening on the night, so much so, that we will be having two presenters on the microphone.

“I’m very pleased that Kevin Long from Ipswich has agreed to do my meeting, and also Reading’s Paul Hunsdon will be adding his style of humour to proceedings.”

Meanwhile, affordable sponsorship packages are now available and supporters welcome and encouraged to get involved.

This includes having the opportunity to walk out onto the track with a favourite rider, plus at the end of the night being presented with a signed photo of themselves and their chosen rider.

Packages include: Main meeting sponsorship, individual rider and heat, rider mascot, plus tyre and fuel
