whowasthatberntpersson
Had a good chat to Vaclav Verner at Newcastle on Saturday night. He assures me that there will be a World 250cc Junior Speedway Championship in 2010. Already approved by the FIM. This begs the question; What will happen to the other forms of junior racing around the world. Australia has no proper 250 racing (350cc class is for 14-16 year old), Scandanavia and Poland currently has the 80cc two strokes, the UK (no actual structured junior scene that I know of), USA (does have 250's, could bring some of there kids into the reckoning) I know this has been discussed previously but it really looks like it happening, a good move in my opinion but I can see some countries being very reluctant to change from their current junior setups. Infact the Aussie kids will have to take a backward step as many of them are already on the 350's, likewise some Brit kids are on 500's. Good move in my opinion, I've tried for 4 years to get NZ to recognise this class. There's a purpose built bike sitting there, we need to use it. Making An FIM championship for it will encourage the move. I thought it was a Gold Trophy for 2010 and as other classes have will move to a World Championship from there. Junior speedway in general, needs to standardise worldwide. The small track set up is obviously working in Aussie, we are at last moving that way. Well the 2010 80cc World Championship will be held at Vojens And last year i talked with a few people in the upper echelons of Danish speedway and they insist Denmark will stick with the formula that has proved so succesful in training up some of the top riders in the World.Czecho and Germany are or have been doing 250cc for a bit now and the success shows
Bavarian
Just think, who was pushing the FIM for introducing a 250cc world ch'ship/Gold trophy? Answer: Vaclav Verner! Who produces 250cc speedway machines? Answer: Jawa/JRM! Good thing for the Czechs, isn't it? By the way, wouldn't it be neccessary for a certain number of nations to already have this kind of racing class of 250cc speedway before even thinking about introducing a world championship? A bit strange this, isn't it?

Absolutely. Most of the top countries have a tried and tested format and a few fringe countries it seems are trying to force in a format that is unsuitable to the set up of the successful countries!!!!!unbelievable
