To explain the championship points....

The Speedway A group always need to have 16 riders, so they can use the GP format. A couple of riders got the A Status so they will always ride in the A Group. If there are not enough A riders the Dutch Federation will select B riders to complete the field.

If you win the A Group you will score 50 points, second will get 49 and so on. If you win the B group you will score 34 points, second will get 33 and so on. The rider with the most points after the 5 rounds will be the Dutch Champion Speedway.

For the B riders it's also possible to become Dutch Champion, the top 10 B riders will race at the end of this year in Veenoord in the support races of the Golden Helmet meeting.

Current Top 10 B Group:

1. Henk Koonstra

2. Bernd Dinklage

3. Maurin Vochteloo

4. Randy Oldenziel

5. Richard Koppies

6. Jesper Veldhuizen

7. Ramon Steenbergen

8. Jan Meijerink

9. Kelly Velda

10. Priscilla Wolgen

And yes, Kelly and Priscilla are both girls!! :D:approve:

Dutch Speedway has shown his first signs of death. Last sunday at Norden (Germany) only 19 speedway riders were racing . That means 16 riders in the A Group and only 3 riders in the B Group. The track was soaked like a sea before practice, nevertheless the KNMV wanted us to race the track. A couple of 500 boys (including me) tried the track and came back soaked. Practice got delayed till 1pm, sadly the rain kept going on.

At 1PM the rain finally stopped and we started over with practice, track was a disaster though, which was a huge shame. The 125cc kids and the B Group completed their heats without any big problems. Sadly the KNMV had to cancell the A Group after 8 heats because the track was unrideable....

Which means we only got 1 round left!.. and that should be at the 13th of September in Lelystad.

With the new Akrapovic silencer coming up I'm afraid that there won't be many speedway riders left in The Netherlands next year. I'm also thinking of selling one of my bikes and buy a grasstrack bike to ride in some more meetings, and also important; earn some cash!.

Well, I just got back from a riders meeting together with the Dutch Trackracing Commitee. All I can say is that Dutch Speedway will die slowly. Riders aren't motivated enough to ride because the meetings are silly and way to expensive. It isn't fun any more to race in the Dutch Championship and most of the riders prefer to race in a Grasstrack meeting elsewhere, like Germany, were they get payed to ride. Another factor is that silly silencer... oh well.

Lucky you. We only have 15 riders racing in Slovenian championship at the moment. But we still qualified for the SWC. :approve: It's about quality, not just about quantity ...
