Or just watch a livestream on the net
Grachan
I used to love watching Swindon winning at Oxford on Screensport. Presented by Lee Richardson's mum. Those were the days.
parklife
The best days were when Paul Bonner produced the shows. Commentators included Rob McCaffrey, Edwin Overland, Dave Lanning and pit interviewers Mike Bennett, Chris French. Speedway had a BL / NL match of the week show in those days. After disappearing for a few years, Tommy Rander returned showing internationals and Swedish League. Clive Fisher being the main commentator with Mike Bennett as pit interviewer. Myself, my brother and Warwick Mead from Wolverhampton were amongst the many cameramen used. Wolfslayer
Yes i remember it well. Screensport were the only channel to cover Ice Speedway. Every season we had the WTC & world championship rounds & the final. I remember Clive Fisher almost losing his voice when Erik Stenlund won the world title in 1988. Pity it isn't on tv anymore, far more entertaining than that tripe that's on Sky .
Wolfslayer
just been looking at some of my old recordings i made from screensport back in 91-92 this afternoon and not only enjoyed the speedway but thought how proffesional the presentation was. IMO Clive Fisher was the best commentator that has covered ice speedway/speedway. Last i heard of him he was at Poole.
Gemini
Last i heard of him he was at Poole. Yes I think he is as I seem to remember a few moans about him coming from the direction of Wimborne Road. I'd still swap him for Peter York though. shazzybird
. Why do you keep doing this with threads and the first post
rabbit
It's very confusing I have to admit. Perhaps we have to make up our own thread titles instead now? Post a thread and be damned for evermore I say.... PS Wolfslayer - Clive is a good friend and can be found doing appearances at Blunsdon on Thursdays. He was the voice of Screensport which is where I first heard him. I do apparently though, appear to be in a minority of liking his style.
