Am really looking forward to this now! Good lineup, should be some good (and possibly interesting racing - as that is what comes with nicki, thou i do love watching him ride! Not many poole fans say that!) and hopefully a big crowd will come out for bjarne as he deserves it.

Good Morning one and all.

A low lying mist at the moment, clearing as I type.If the weather turns out like it has been for the last week or so,then it will be a super day all round.I was working outside in t-shirt yesterday.

Got decidedly chilly later on,as along with Brendan,I popped over to watch practice on IOW.Definitely thermals time!

Look forward to meeting up with you Newcastle fans.As Ive already told Tsunami,I will be working in Alan Whales photo stall on the 3rd turn.Do pop round and say hi.Im the good looking one who works there!

Safe journey one and all.

See you later. :approve:

Just got back from an enjoyable but predictable testimonial meeting. Racing wasn't great but there were a couple of decent races, the last being the best.

Big crowd turned up for Bjarne.

As for the riders NP stood head and shouldes above the rest. East world title coming up for him this year.

Lindback was excellent and got an expected big reception.

KK was very good and fast

Andersen ditto.

Nice to see a lot of Newcastle fans make the trip down. Two coach loads and some cars as well. Nice to put a face to a name and meet Tsunami.

Rosco came out at the interval dressed as Bjarne for a coouple of laps "testing" but fooled no one with his riding style. Sussed out straight away but as usual he got a big cheer. He loved it.

Good meeting, some good racing and good crowd :approve: . I for one didn't realise it was rosco, first how did he fit into bjarne's kelvers? and secondly he was going quite fast!! A few people in the crowd want rosco signed up!!

Liked hans andersen after his presentation - displaying his tool box to the crowd, like the girls do with the prizes on them cheesy gameshows, that was pretty funny. Not sure how he got a bigger toolbox than nicki. Maybe hans is bjarne's favourite!

Oh and joe screen looks totally different on his bike now! Completely different riding style, it is really good to see and quite encouraging.

I thought the whole event was a bit 'flat' last night. Nice to see so many fans turn up for Bjarne though. One or two laughs at the end during the presentations though.

On the track:

NP was the star and looks set to retain his world title.

Lindback & KK impressed once again.

Anderson looked very quick on his new engines.

Bjarne struggled to get going for the first couple of races but then looked something of his old self later on.

Holder was steady.

Screen looked a little more settled on the track than he did on Monday. Give him a week or two and he'll be fine.

Davidsson looked very fast when he gated but as usual, tailed off at the back if he didn't.

Stonehewer? Early days yet but it does look as though he will struggle at this level. Did nothing of any great note. With Doyle out, and Davidsson a worry if he doesn't make the gate, I feel that Poole will struggle during the first two months of the season.

Legault looked very determined and will do OK at reserve.

Bjerre won one race convincingly.

And that's all I can remember from a not too memorable night.

Oh, and Lindback was awarded a Karcher pressure sprayer for coming third in the final race. I hope they threw in a travel plug too!

I could not get down to Poole due to work commitments but I am so glad a lot of my fellow Newcastle Diamonds fans made the journey to honour a truly Great Dane! I had the pleasure of meeting Bjarne in the pits at Poole a few seasons ago after the Reading meeting and, when he saw my Newcastle Diamonds scarf, he was brilliant, chatting away for over twenty minutes.

Also great to see Diamond Danes, Nicki Pedersen, Kenneth Bjerre and current star Kenni Larsen in the newcastle side!!! Good Luck Bjarne!!!

Suprised to see that Kenni Larsen failed to score a single point. I know he was not due to ride in the meeting. Did he have his own equipment etc ?

Looked like it. he gated once and got a bit of a knock which saw him hit the deck on the first bend, but other than that was well off the pace.

Well, we all arrived home at teatime after a terrific couple of days away to support our ex rider in his testimonial. After a trouble free journey down in the large coach, we all descended on the stadium only to find even more Diamond fans that we didn't know were coming as well. A large crowd estimated at being over 3000, were entertained by a canny field that Bjarne had assembled. The state of the track was commented on very early and it must have been the first time ever that I have seen a blade used after only about 2 heats. A couple of riders were distinctly not happy with the track.

Understandably Bjarne was a bit subdued in his first couple of heats but returned to normal form after that. Racing wasn't that great but heat 15 certainly raised the bar a bit. The final heat was the final for top scorers and the dicing and overtaking of Nicki and Hans had to be seen to be believed. Powering under each other legitimately, drifted across the corner allowing the other to pull back to restore the lead, they repeated the feat lap after lap until Nicki increased his lead and went on to a good win. His starts, and especially entry into the first bend, were unbelievable and made him stand out and if repeated for the rest of this year will surely see him keep his world crown.

Bjarne was his usual concerned self and was enquiring at all times that things were OK and going according to plan. We did a TR with Nicki but unfortunately Bjarne declined another against Hans and of course then went out and defeated him with professional ease.

A nice night with a big crowd and a big payout for a good guy. Thanks Bjarne for the invite, i appreciated it.

Talking about good guys, I also met Steve S, Shaleshifter and also Dorset Delight after I was pointed out by my ginga daughta. Nice to meet you for the first time and also good to meet up again with BobC but unfortunately not rabbit who I understand was unable to attend. Take care Sue and hope to see you again sometime this year on our travels.

After some tasty bidding for the signed bibs, bike covers, kevlars, etc, it was back at midnight to the hotel where Bjarne had arranged for a party for everyone which included our lot from 3 different hotels, his Danish friends and family, sponsors, Matt F, Middlo and numerous speedway hierachy. The night was long and the beer free so eventually we all went home/bed when we were full.

An extremely enjoyable couple of days in good company carrying out our missionary work on the South coast, before we returned to God's country, the North East. :approve:

Look forward to returning on any lame excuse I can think of.

Really pleased you all had a good time Tsu. I was there in spirit, and it was a tough decision to not go last night, but in reality, it'd have set me back too much to have risked it. Hope we get to meet up somewhere this year though for a good righting the wrongs of the world again. :approve:

Big thanks to Pirate Paul for deputising for me there last night - I owe you big time for helping out matey.
