Sandie
I'd rather have a 7pm start and more socialising time in the afternoon. Hopefully the fleet of Robins coaches will just leave 2 hours earlier to ensure that we don't miss out on serious drinking time. If not then I may have to break the habit of a lifetime and stay over, and that could be really messy!

The Know
[/b] Bit of both I think, I dont think the sales of tickets has gone very well going on the fact they keep extending the cheap ticket deadline, but clearly the hotel trade havent helped by doubling the prices, a point not lost on BSI apparently. I doudt they would have to do this if past sponsors had paid up
spin king
This i would have to see. Yeah lets send Paulco on a tour of modern art galleries, I would love to see what he would have to say about some of these abstract paintings.
The Know
Blimey - if you use that figure across the board for all speedway relating advertising / promotion it really doesnt bode well as companies look to simply survive with no money to devlop new business. Could be an interesting year all round Speedway advertising develops no new business. It is used for other reasons. You bring new business in through your reputation and producing good products at a good price. Not by spending money on any form of advertising. We would of cut back in 09 anyway. On the topic i think it is a good move. I might now think about not staying for the w/end.
Humphrey Appleby
Speedway advertising develops no new business. Might not be the case in speedway, but presumably advertising must work otherwise companies wouldn't spend a fortune on doing it. I wouldn't disagree that quality, customer service and reputation can take you a long way, but I've seen many a good product fail through poor marketing. Conversely, I've seen poor products do far better than they should because through clever marketing. Lift installation and maintenance though, must be a utterly specialist market that will never have any currency with the general public. The same with the Danish Metalworkers Union, and whilst I can understand it's probably about more about corporate entertainment than anything else, in all honesty I'd have thought there are cheaper and better places to entertain people than a speedway GP. I'm not knocking the fact that some sponsors may simply be speedway fans and believe in doing their bit to help promote the sport, but I can't see that relying on charity is really the future... Even with this, it has to be said that the SGP sponsors cupboard is beginning to look increasingly bare, and things wouldn't seem to be so great on the television front either...
