spiegal
On a freezing December day in POLAND...Just had an inspection visit of the magnificent new stadium being built in Torun. It is only say 500 metres from the old stadium...and the whole area is being worked on by a massive amount of cranes, and concrete terracing. Very impressive indeed..and surely the world's best stadium built from nothing Mind you, I don't recommend watching on a day like today. My vitals have totally frozen over Regards James

Santyboy
And here it is: http://www.stadion-dla-torunia.alstal.eu/ WOW. That looks spectacular. There must still be serious investment into Polish Speedway. Will the stadium be used fro anything else?

Mateusz
WOW. That looks spectacular. There must still be serious investment into Polish Speedway. Will the stadium be used fro anything else? Nope, just speedway afaik.
Hazzman
No drinking, no smoking, no swearing, no shouting, no singing, no standing. No fun. TBF, it's not stopped Zielona Gora still having a red-hot atmosphere. Czestochowa, Z.Gora and Gorzow have all had refurbs or new stadiums built recently. Also Ostrow in Liga 1 have done the same. It's like history repeating itself with the Premier League and English football....the same is happening to E-Liga and Polish Speedway. Mateusz
Any indication of cost? 61 million zl. Which is about 13,5 million pounds May be 10 million zl more if they decide now to build the roof covering the track as well...
Mama
Mateusz - you aren't right! Toruń got ~61 million zł for the ground in place of old stadium. (they were really happy then because first estimated cost of new stadium was ~30 million zł) After preparing right project, estimated cost increased to ~100 million zł - if the city want to make also the roof covering the track, the cost will be ~110 million zł (for now - if they'll decide to postpone making the second stage of that roof, the cost will increase to ~130 million zł)
lastword
The link posted above which showed pics of work in progress does not seem to work anymore...........similarly the link via the Torun website. Anyone know an alternative site that shows the stadium?

iris123
Surprised no one has mentioned the apparent problem between BSI/IMG and PZM regarding GP/SWC venues. Now that Poland has anumber of extremely good speedway venues they want to share the top meetings around and not have them picked by IMG.I know when i was talking to the people at Gorzów,they were hoping to host a GP in the near future.Apparently all the top clubs apart from Leszno,i think have agreed they should be able to choose which venues host the top meetings. And if BSI don't agree then the Polish clubs will not host any GPs and SWC meetings.I think
