barrow boy
IMO only 5 riders are still improving and with 3 of them being so far behind at present they should be ruled out as likely winners. The 2 that are left includes the current world champion therefore I think it is more than likely he will win it again.
Silver Bee
Can't believe you're putting Nicholls down as seventh. God knows why, he's finished 7th before.
Bagpuss
Crump Pedersen Andersen Jonsson Gollob Saifudtinov Nicholls Adams Hancock Bjerre Lindgren Harris Walasek Ulamek Interesting that you have put those two so far down.....I know they are only going to go one way but I can't see them both dropping that far next year. And if they did I wouldn't rule out the possibility of one or both 'doing a Rickardsson', ie jacking it in when they know they ain't gonna win the thing, or even get on the rostrum. Just can't see the old guard staying the same for another season. Adams will go 1 of 2 ways this year IMO and either mount a serious challenge or seriously drop back. Has Hancock got another top year left in him? Maybe, but out of hope more than anything I've put him down there
schumi
But it's the infrastructure as much as anything else and the likes of Adams and Crump have the infrastructure in place. It's not ability that counts, it's having the support team in place. That's why the likes of Adams, Hancock, Gollob, Nicki P, Crump and Andersen have been able to pull away from the also-rans. diamond@heart
Would like to see Nicki win it again and if he does it will still not shut the boo boys up. I think Crump and Andersen will mount a stronger challenge in 09. Nicholls has to perform better this year as if he does not he has to consider the fact that he is simply not good enough. Would like to have a British rider to cheer on but am I asking for too much.
Adam 74
I also cant believe people are puting Emil down so low either, think he may well surprise a few people next year.. Hopefully see Seba do beter than everyone expects to..
MattK
I can't see anyone challenging Nicki Pedersen unfortunately. He was just so consistant in 2008 and I see no reason why he won't be the same in 2009.
cometsfan2k4
I think Sajfudinov is going to be up there in the top 5 next year. I know its his first season in GPs but hes got so much talent and a joy to watch when ive seen him on the Polish speedway website. Cant wait to see him at Cardiff. Vince
Rostrum: Pedersen, Andersen and Crump. Could be in any order but got a feeling Crump will up his game enough to take the title this year. 4th to 6th: Adams, Gollob and Hancock, again in any order. Then I think Holta, Nicholls, Lindgren and Sajfutdinov will be competing for a top 8 spot.

Orson Welles
My prediction: Andersen Pedersen Crump Adams Gollob Hancock Jonsson Bjerre Saifudtinov Lindgren Nicholls Walasek Harris Ulamek I don't think anyone can argue that the GP competition is stagnating, and I think it will be a battle of the two top Danes. I suspect that Hans will finally have the consistency this year to challenge Nicki, but it will be close. I think that elsewhere the interest will be to see how the new boys fare. A fully-fit Bjerre could improve his form (which, in 2008, was solid rather than spectacular at EL level) and cause a few surprises, and I'll be watching Saifudtinov with interest. I fear he may have entered GPs a season too early, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in my rating. Of course, we need more new blood, and we can only hope that the likes of Holder (next season?), Pavlic and Woffinden will be able to provide it in time. Ron Butler
1. Jason Crump 2. Nicki Pedersen 3. Hans Andersen 4. Tomasz Gollob 5. Andreas Jonsson 6. Greg Hancock 7. Leigh Adams 8. Scott Nicholls 9. Fredrik Lindgren 10. Rune Holta 11. Kenneth Bjerre 12. Chris Harris 13. Emil Saifutdinov 14. Grzegorz Walasek 15. Sebastian Ulamek Discuss... No! Diddy
1 Crump (he will be hurting after the last couple of seasons) 2 Pedersen 3 Andersen 4 Jonsson (funny character, could make top 3, or maybe could only finish around 10th) but going for quite a strong year 5 Hancock 6 Gollob 7 Adams 8 & 9 Nicholls or Sajfutdinov 10 Holta 11 Lindgren 12 Harris 13 Bjerre 14 Walasek 15 Ulamek

It's hard to look past Nicki and Crumpy, nut I'd like to see both Gollob and Adams win it before they retire. They are right up there with the best riders never to win world titles. There is no greater sight in speedway than Gollob in full flight, and Adams has just been so good in so many leagues for so long. Saijfutdinov will surprise a few, he might struggle on smaller temporary tracks, but don't forget he won a world U21 round at Rye House a couple of years ago, in a field that included Tai Woffinden, in terrible conditions.
