lucifer sam
I've defended Nicholls in the past, but my patience has run out this year. I think the GP series would be better served by bringing in some new blood - such as Emil Saifutdinov. All the best Rob
jaybea39
Lucifer Sam The young Russian would certainly bring some excitement back to the GP'S....As would Holder and Woffinden..........No problems with Nicholls not getting a wildcard.......My point is the qualifying process is ridiculous.....We are getting rubbish getting through year after year......Walasek...Ulamek.....Dryml...If you want the top 16 riders in the world in the gps then Nicholls has to be in it jb
rabbit
Sorry jaybea..but much as it pains me to say it, but Tai is nowhere near ready for a GP place yet. As for the GP qualifying process, wouldn't agree it's rubbish - it can only ever be as good as the riders putting themselves forward for it. I'm not exactly that thrilled either at any of the 3 qualifiers (and I say that as a fan of Walasek) but they put themselves forward and won the right to be there - you can;t argue with that - it's certainly more 'there by right' than even a wildcard nomination. Perhaps certain other riders should have done the same. The old saying 'pride cometh before a fall' may appear to be appropriate here. Seb the Snail
The old saying 'pride cometh before a fall' may appear to be appropriate here. Maybe so, but on this season's evidence, wouldn't "Lukas Dryml cometh before a fall" be more accurate? I doubt that Woffinden is even in the Top 50 in the world at the moment, let alone the Top 15. The GP series will lose its last shred of credibility if he's given 1 of the picks.

SPEEDY69
I am a big fan of Scott and of course would love to see him in the GPs again next year - he is certainly one of the more entertaining riders in the series. He has no right to be there next year though as he finished outside the top 8 and didn't do the qualifiers so if they picked others he would gave to accept it, as his fans would. However, the series has nevre been about who are the best current riders in the world - it's a series to attract sponsors, fans & viewers & ultimately make money. The qualifiers for this years series didn't really pull up any trees did they and all three are now out again. Holder failed to get through the qualifiers so if he gets a wildcard, why would anyone else bother doing them? It's not black and white this issue but yes I still think Scott adds to the series and I can't think of many others better who should replace him. I believe it is absolutely certain that Scott will be given a wildcard. However he may be the only Brit in the series next year. With Chris Harris finishing a lowly 13th it would be awkward to nominate him without offering a place to Lindgren, or, even Bjarne or PUK who both finished the series above him. Additionally they are going to want a couple of riders from other parts of Europe to come into the mix, Safuitdinov, Pavlic or a second chance to Zagar. Overall I do not think that any rider should be offered consecutive wildcards and those selections should be on the condition that they participate in the qualifying series to earn a place for the following year. Sorry dont understand this logic at all, perhaps I'm thick. Scott Nicholls finished 9th in the World Championship in 2008, where did Ulamek and Walasek finish?, even the best estimate must be greater than 16th? It's only the two non qualifiers you have to hope for. Edited October 24, 2008 by MARK246

scotty2hotty
Oh come on Orion, you cannot possibly believe that Ulamek and Walasek will do better in the GP than Nicholls would. Yes they will probably do well in the Polish GPs but thats about it. I suppose we will have to wait and see (assuming Nicholls gets in) but I will eat my hat if either Walasek or Ulamek get any higher than 12th. scotty2hotty
I understand some people not being happy about SCott getting another nomination and technically no, he didn't qualify by right so shouldn't be there. I believe he didn't do the qualifiers because he wanted to qualify in the top 8 and that was his goal for 2008. Unfortunately it didn't happen. I suppose some would say I am biased because I am a Scott fan, but at the end of the day, I am British and I want to see the top British rider in the Gps, I want to see someone with grit, determination and passion, which I believe Scott has, thats not to say the others haven't. I want to spend GP nights screaming at the television for Scott to do well. I want to spend Cardiff night with my heart in my mouth, my heart pumping and my brother telling me what is the point in coming if I spend all of Scott's races with my hands over my eyes!! I would much rather watch Scott's exciting, edge of your seat racing, than watch other riders 'pootling' around at the back if they miss the gate. Whether Scott gets a nomination, I suppose we shall just have to wait and see, but in my mind, if he doesn't, he will be a big loss to the excitement of the Gps. Sorry I still dont understand that at all, Ulamek and Walasek didnt compete amongst the top 16, therefore the best that thay can be is below 16th. Nicholls finished 9th! If you are somehow trying to suggest that Ulamek and/or Walasek are 'better' than Nicholls then our discusion is over, as it is not worth my time discussing it with you.
