davidba
They gave the line up about 5 times on Thursday. Can only remember Swiderski, Nicholls and Dawid Stachyra as the token newbie. Line up sounded decent but since i can't go i didn't take in the rest, sorry.

crazysue
It's looking extremely unlikely that I will be able to go so is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the updates site? If so, could you please either leave a message here or send me an email or pm. Thanks

HOTSHOT
Any chance of announcing Mr. Nicholls has signed up for next year Presenter? People don't get your knickers in a twist, I have no idea if he is coming or not for 2009 but it would certainly warm a lot of us up on what will be a bitterly cold night. Presenter, when you get that mike under his nose, push him as much as you can on this issue please Scotts phone is gonna be red hot this autumn, make no mistake. A committed number one in the British Elite League, rarer than hens teeth these days. Add Belle Vue to the list of possible suitors, what with the Crump news......in fact, Poole aside, I would say Scott can take his pick of the rest. But unfortunately HS, he is contracted to Eastie until October 31st 2008, and then Coventry will have first call on his services, so I'm sure no announcements tonight I'm afraid, unless it's Schrammy of course or JoJo. HOTSHOT
Sure, I appreciate that and wouldn't expect anything to be announced whilst he is contracted to another club but hey, it's your last meeting Presenter, so get us a scoop...........of where he would like to be at the very least! tocha
Illness my arse Do you happen to know that he is not ill or are you merely auditioning for the part of Jim in 'The Royle Family' should Ricky Tomlinson stand down. On a more serious note I enjoyed tonight's final, despite the wind and rain, and was particularly impressed by Rory and the new guy, David Stachyra. Should be a good signing for Ipswich next season. Well done, Scot - you deserve a bit of luck - and bad luck to Rory in packing up when in a leading position.
Badge
Good luck to everyone taking part. Be careful Olly. We need you for tomorrow. Olly rode really well. Article from www.worldspeedway.com/ The 2008 Speedway Season came to an end this evening at Foxhall Stadium with the Anglian Willhire 16 Lap Classic meeting which resulted in a win for the former Ipswich star Scott Nicholls. There was one change to the programmed line-up with Edward Kennett forced to withdraw through illness and his place was taken by the Kings Lynn rider Chris Mills. The young Pole Dawid Stachyra was making his debut in the competition having been programmed to ride in last year’s event but then having to withdraw. In the qualifying heats Rory Schlein was the top scorer with eleven points whilst Robert Miskowiak displayed a return to form with ten. Olly Allen and Scott Nicholls both scored eight meaning that those four riders would line up in the grand final on the rear grid. Piotr Swiderski and Troy Batchelor both scored seven points whilst Kevin Doolan, Dawid Stachyra, Steve Johnston and David Howe all scored five. On a countback system however it was Stachyra and Howe who went through to join Swiderski and Batchelor on the front grid in the final. The forecast rain had been falling on and off through most of the meeting and this led to the Consolation Final due to be run over six laps to be cancelled. Fortunately the rain eased in time for the 16 Lap Classic Final. The eight riders all safely negotiated the first turn of the sixteen circuits and in the early laps Rory Schlein moved up through the field and appeared on course to win the meeting outright. Disaster struck the young Australian however midway through the race when he was forced to drop out with engine failure. Troy Batchelor had led the race from the start and appeared to be riding hard the whole way. Olly Allen was in second place with Scott Nicholls steadily gaining ground. With five laps to go Nicholls went around the outside of Allen but seemed far too far behind Batchelor to catch him. Nicholls appeared to be conserving his equipment for the finish rather trying to peg back Batchelor, as he knew that could finish second to the Australian but still win the title overall. Cruel fortune then struck Batchelor on the very last bend of the final lap when he ran out of fuel and Nicholls swooped past, with Batchelor frantically paddling his way home for second with Dawid Stachyra third. This all meant that in the final reckoning the overall winner of the meeting was Scott Nicholls from Troy Batchelor with Olly Allen third. Track Announcer Kevin Long in his final meeting suggested to Scott Nicholls that experience may have played a part in his victory and the Great Britain captain replied “yes, it seemed better for me to ride sensibly rather than go flat out all the way and it paid off. We have all had a hard night with the weather but it has been fun and noone has got injured at the end of the season which is important”. Scott Nicholls therefore recorded his third win in the Competition and now moves up to join Phil Crump and Jason Crump who have all won the meeting three times still two short however of the all time leader Chris Louis with five victories. Scorers: Scott Nicholls 24, Troy Batchelor 19, Olly Allen 18, Robert Miskowiak 16, Rory Schlein 15, Dawid Stachyra 15, David Howe 11, Piotr Swiderski 7, Kevin Doolan 5, Steve Johnston 5, Chris Schraam 1, Chris Mills 0, Scott Campos (reserve) 0. Fourentee
Thanks for that. Worldspeedway needs to get a better perspective on events. When you're reading an account of an eight-man race you really don't want to come across the phrase: "Disaster struck the young Australian". So pleased it was followed with news of an engine failure.
