Steve Shovlar
Not at all, a decent crowd for a meeting at Newport could be just what it needs for prospective buyers of the club to take the plunge, the event won't be the same at Poole either and i hope once Newport is back up and running the meeting will revert to it's true home. A club cannot run a speedway meeting without a promoter in place who is a member of the BSPA, so it has always been a no go until probate has been completed and the new promoter announced and accepted into the BSPA. Steve Shovlar
Ok folks now i know the facts. Yes, Mr Ford was the only promoter to tender the application to run the New Year meeting but the man did it JUST 3 Days after Tim stone passed away not recently as it would appear, that i'm afraid is downright disrespectful considering it wasn't even known at that time if Tim had a will or not. Strange that it only came out of the wooodwork when others parties, those that the executor wished to run the show we're known. It's blood money. I sincerely hope that Mr Ford isn't gonna pocket all this. To say Newport are a defunct club is utter b*****ks. My opinion is that once it was known by all that a promotion, under the wishes of Tim's executor & administrator of his will, wished to run Speedway at Newport again & run this meeting too, any interest from other parties should have been annuled. Just out of interest what do you think Tim's executor thinks about all of this, i know what i would think, if that's the way speedway runs sod 'em that 's what i'd say. I have a new name for Matt " The Undertaker". You really do cause trouble for yourself with your posts CC. What you have written above is inaccurate, and clearly libellous. So it would appear my source was correct about that then and that the 'summer application' was yet more spin by Mr Shovlar who has conveniently not answered the post as it doesn't match his version of events. Or does Summer start in April at my most local club? Not to worry, after some consultation he will be back with the revised version. This does destroy the credibility of the vast majority of Steve Shovlars post on this subject, more so when he ignores the difficult to answer stuff and still can't make things sound honourable. The truth is that immediately Tim died the Poole promotion jumped at an opportunity to make some more money. I would never agree with the way they have acted over this but I might have a little more respect for them if they didn't try to hide behind the 'respect for Tim Stone's memory' angle. Steve Shovlar
So what you are saying Steve is that Ken Wood( executor) & Roger Youngs ( new stadium owner) didn't ask the Reading promotion to run this meeting at Newport as i quoted in the SS w/c 11/10/08? Do you really believe Matt never applied 3 days after Tim's death? You've heard that from the people who know. First of all the cut off date was 30th September, so he didn't apply. 11 days too late to be accepted. I know for a fact that Pole speedway applied for it in the middle of the summer. So agin yoou are very wrong. But considering the rules were that all applications have to be in by 30th september, it makes no diffeence, as it was not on a first comes first served basis. You have been fed false information and made a false allegation on a public forum. Would have been better to have kept this to yoourselve rather than incriminate yourself on hearsay. Sorry to say you are just very bitter and have done your very best to cause havoc for the Poole promotion. I know 100% that what I have posted is correct, no matter how you continue to moan and groan about it. In truth it's getting to the stage where I for one hope the winter meeting is from now on passed around all clubs. Why should one club have the monopoly on this event? Give it to Sheffield next year, and Wolverhampton the year after. Newport don't have some god give right to run this meeting no matter how much spin and abuse you throw at Poole. To say Poole applied for this meeting 3 days after Stone's death reeks of trying to stir up a hornets next and to some extent you have succeeded with all the bad feeling on here. Colin Cooke has got so involved and wound up by your posts he has libelled himself by making false claims detrimental to Poole Speedway and Matt Ford in particular. I know I would react to such comments. But perhaps the Poole promotion have a cooler head than the hot heads on here.

Steve Shovlar
The Speedway Star is not hearsay. So they've incriminated themselves too have they? ....plus i said this week it's in the Star that doesn't mean it was 11 days late. If i was Tim's executor, i'd be the one suing. That wasn't what you said wrong. What you incriminated yourself on was saying that Matt Ford applied for the meeting three days after Tim Stone had passed away, which is completely false. Then continuing by calling it "blood money", "downright disrespectful", then calling the Poole promoter "The Undertaker". The way you have worded it makes people believe its th truth, and that Poole got the meeting before Tim Stone was cold in his grave. If you think that isn't libellous, you have a lot to learn. As for the Star, Looks like Oakes got false information which you have taken as correct, because, for the umteenth time, Poole were the only club to apply. Steve Shovlar
Hearsay, it was in the Speedway Star this week for god sake. That doesn't mean it was 11 days late either, just the date it was made public. If that is false, the executor & proposed new owner wouldn't have allowed it. If i was the executor i'd be the 1 suing. But you should read it again. It doesn't say they have got the meeting and it will go ahead. Its says the NYC is set to continue. It says the guy who wants to be promoter has ASKED the Reading promotion to run it. ( getting a massive feeling od deja vu here) but they didn't apply, only Poole did. Silver Bee
I personally am looking forward to it at Poole. I think it'll be a refreshing change. Big fuss over nothing if you ask me.

tanya
How patronising can one mans comments be, and to do it in Welsh too the man has a real talent. I for one will miss the meeting and it'll be great to see how many of these Champions are willing to turn up and ride in Winter conditions. Looks like it will be March now before we at Newport can pay our respects to Tim Stone with a minutes silence, something we have been unable to do as yet at Newport. I know I would react to such comments. But perhaps the Poole promotion have a cooler head than the hot heads on here. Indeed I am bitter over the way Newport Speedway, it's fans, workers and new owner have been treated. I am not trying to cause havoc for Poole or their Promoters, I am expressing my displeasure at the way in which I believe they have behaved. You do not know that what you have posted is correct - unless of course you made the application, otherwise you are repeating what you have been told, as am I. Almost certainly you will get your wish with the Classic being switched around the clubs. Once it has been moved from Newport others will see no reason they should be denied a bite of the cherry. As for spin, I am not the one saying that I am posting fact while posting the party line on behalf of a promoter. In fact I have repeatedly said that I am making the judgement on what I have heard, I chose to believe this version as I don't find yours credible. Again I have made clear that I only repeat what I have heard, not to stir up a hornets nest but in reply to the original post which said it was put in prior to Tim's death. I think you are more than a little to blame with your arrogant attitude and blatant spin. People are not as stupid as you seem to think and treating them in such a patronising manner will put them against Poole Speedway far more than my opinion ever will. Until now I have never had anything against Poole Speedway, indeed I very much had a soft spot for them as I explained earlier. My opinion now is that I would never go there again. You don't like my opinion, tough, I don't go much on your attitude either.
Steve Shovlar
No I don't care for your opinion but you are entitled to it as I am entitled to mine. Really only a few Newport fans with yourself and Colin Cooke are kicking up a stink. Some Newport fans see this is a sensible move and that it could be back at Newport in 2010. Why all the bleating though I can't understand. Poole have made it clear it is for one year only. If they had said its now ours every year, then I could understand the crap being thrown in the Dorset direction.
