Okay it has now been confirmed on the East Herts Herald website Andrew Silver is riding; line up as follows: 1 Luke Bowen 2 Lewis Bridger 3 Danny King (may be injured according to another thread?) 4 Chris Neath 5 Robert Mear 6 Stuart Robson 7 Danny Halsey 8 Tai Woffinden 9 Tommy Allen 10 Edward Kennett 11 Shaun McConnell 12 Andrew Silver Edited October 17, 2008 by Brian L
Guest FlyinPanther
Yep Danny King is out after sustaining broken bones in his foot after a 1st Corner tangle with Freddie Lindgren last night at the EOES!
crazysue
Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the updates site? If so, could you please either leave a message here or send me an email or pm. Thanks

Still there must be a reason I suppose. Edited October 18, 2008 by tocha

The line up and only 12 riders just says all about Lens refusal to spend any sort of money on this meeting. Hopefully a crap crowd turns up so he learns a lesson. What makes you think Len refuses to spend money? Len pays all riders who ride the same money, the standard PL money. The riders may get more from sponsorship deals they have. You would be amazed at the riders who don't want to ride in any individual meetings. It is so hard to get them to ride in mid summer and yes I can say I have first hand experience on that. If Rye get crap a crowd then next year there may be no Ace of Herts of even worse no speedway if the crowds would have been crap this year! You have a choice if you stay at home, hopefully you will next year all season. People have a choice, I have a choice and I will go to Rye tonight. It's the final meeting of the season, what do you expect, a 16 heat world class individual meeting, get a grip Chris or just stay away next year and that way we won't have your continual Rye bashing every week. Bit of an over reaction me thinks. The loss of the Ace of Herts will be no loss if he comes up with this sort of line up and a twelve rider format in the future. Speedway is safe as houses at Rye so no worries on that score. For the last couple of seasons he has refused to spend any money or make any big effort to get a decent line up for the Ace of Herts. craig
Choice tonight is the Missus treating me to a chinese or go the the Ace of Herts, with the line up on show it looks like a chinese with a glass of wine and watch the X factor. For the last couple of seasons he has refused to spend any money or make any big effort to get a decent line up for the Ace of Herts. And the reason that speedway is safe at Rye House is because of Len Silver and his sensible management. I applaud the man and the knowledge that speedway is safe at Rye and welcome back riders who have helped us be at the forefront of Premier League speedway over the last few years. Eddie Kennett, Stuart Robson and Daniel King ( now injured). I enjoy my Saturday nights at Rye and my visits around the country following the Rockets seeing mainly young British riders, many promoted from the Raiders/Cobras and wish it to continue long into the future. If this means astute financial management and not paying superstar wages to mediocre riders then so be it.

I'm not knocking Lens payment structure in terms of rider wages, but his refusal to pay any sort of decent money for a one off meeting on the last night of the season for the fans is poor and as shown on here has cost him a few quid already. Its up to him. If he can't be arsed to provide even a half decent line then some won't bother. Edited October 18, 2008 by Chris

BossMan
Have to admit that I did not think much of the line up tonight before the meeting but was thoroughly entertained. Admittedly there were some changes and David Howe replacing Edward Kennett at 11am this morning was a good choice. Results courtesy of Live Updates. Line-up 1. Luke Bowen 2, 1, 1, 0, 2 = 6 2. Lewis Bridger 3, 2, 0, 3, 3 = 11 3. Olly Allen 3, 1, 3, 0, 1 = 8 4. Chris Neath 0, 3, 3, 3, 3 = 12 5. Robert Mear 2, 2, 2, 2, 0 = 8 6. Stuart Robson 1, 1, 3, 3, 3 = 11 7. Danny Halsey 0, 0, 1, 0, 1 = 2 8. Tai Woffinden 3, 3, Fx, 1, N = 7 9. Tommy Allen 1, F, 1, 2, 2 = 6 10. David Howe 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 = 10 11. Linus Sundstrom 1, 3, 2, 1, 1 = 8 12. Andrew Silver 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 = 0 Reserves Shawn McConnell 1 David Mason GRAND-FINAL: Howe, Bridger, Olly, Mear 61.7 Sponsored by Line-up: O Allen, Mear, Howe, Bridger Big crash between Mear and Howe bend 3 lap 1. Mear excluded. Both riders up and walking back to pits. Ref changes mind Mear back in. Howe Passed Olly backstraight lap 1 and that was that. I have never seen a referee change his mind before and apart from maybe peer pressure; do not understand why he did this? It was just a racing incident and Mear was unlucky to be caught out. I have seen several of those types of incidents before and a rider was excluded, indeed I was under the impression that if a race is stopped then someone has to be excluded.? Anyway a good meeting and a big well done to David Howe. For the Record Chris – The crowd was good, close to being the biggest of the season. Never seen Linus before tonight looks like a good prospect. Andrew Silver looked quite good for his 1st meeting back after a long retirement Edited October 18, 2008 by BossMan
KenB1
Well you doubted the line up, but boy if you stayed away, you missed once of the best meetings of the season, some absolutley superb first class racing. I'm not the biggest fan of individuals, but this one certainly will stick out for a long time. IE; final heat, it was re-stage with all 4 after the ref spoke to the riders, who admitted they made a mistake, which caused Rob to come down, in view of the event he was happy to put all 4 back, the Video/DVD footage shows his first decision was correct . Gonna enjoy editing this one.
Guest FlyinPanther
enjoyed last night immensly. Shame that Danny King was injured and Edward Kennett had a mystery illness.. But lots of good racing.. Shame that Tai took a couple of knocks and had to withdraw.. Had a Chat with Michael Lee on the launch pad last night - what a truly nice guy.. ex 1980 World Champion!! (worth the admission for that alone) Well Done to David Howe.. and Well done to Len Silver and the Rye House team - here to a sucessful 2009! Shadders
Those who stayed away missed a pretty good meeting. MUCH better than a night in front of the TV with a take away Craig The most disappointing thing was the promised 20 minute firework display that was only 15 minutes long, apart from that thoroughly entertained, apart from that thoroughly entertained.....and kids in for free. What more do you want for £13? Track was slick as hell and absolutely no work done on it. In fact the track staff were told not to do any raking between heats, hence the slower than usual times. Three things stood out last night. 1.Len should sign up Linus Sunderstrom. Pretty impressed with him and depending on his could be worth a punt. 2. Robbo is looking good, not quite back to his best but getting there. Shame we won't be seeing him riding at Rye next year 3. The Andrew Silver mystery was answered. Just a bums on seats stunt to lure some extra punters through the gate. He was so far off the pace it was unreal. Nice try though and thanks for the memories Andy, but when you're beaten by Shawn McConnnell you know you have problems!!

Shadders
Why not Shadders? Has he signed elsewhere? Or is he packing it in? He's been riding in numerous meetings over the past few weeks and getting lots of track time in. Doesn't sound like the actions of someone who's gonna pack it in. Ben91
Why not Shadders? Has he signed elsewhere? Or is he packing it in? robbo has had a benefit meeting and would have to give back the money from that and the fundraisers held for him i suspect if he wanted to make a full comeback
