THE Wolverine
No doubt we'd all like to see such and such have a go but the fact remains that Martin Smolinski has done nothing to warrant his removal from next weeks hastily rearranged final GP. It would be mightily unfair for the organisers to strip him of the chance and hand it to Holder, Sajfutdinov or another Pole and who's to say Smoli won't perform better than either of those 2. Look at the GP from Bydgoszcz 3-4 weeks ago and Jonsson didn't exactly pull up any trees did he........on his own Polish league track. I'm still trying to get my head round how an indoor speedway meeting gets called off.....I'm not sure how they did it but boy did they do it. Hey if leaves on the track can stop a train service .... anything is possible
nightrider
Just wondering - what is the German fans take on all this, they must be just as dissapointed as everyone else ? Have they had more info in their press as to why the meeting was called off. Another random thought ....if the track was wet and the weather warm and dry - why not keep the roof open so that the water could evaporate out into the atmosphere rather than have the humidity in the stadia build with the roof closed and the shale absorb all the moisture? nightrider
TheDons
I really sympathize with those who made the trek to Germany who have been royally screwed by the organizers reprehensible handling of this event. I live on the US East Coast. I was planning to take my family across the Atlantic to attend the British GP next Summer. How confident can I be about this when (a) an event in an indoor arena can still be postponed because of "weather" and ( it can be rescheduled for a week later in a DIFFERENT COUNTRY!? iris123
I'm happy just watched A.Jonsson win last year, in a race with the 4 best riders in the world Jonsson ,Crump, Adams and Hancock. Thanks to Swedish TV for the rerun. Let's face it,you sit for days on end putting spikes into tyres. You'll find anything interesting compared to that

ianmartin
WHAT A B****Y JOKE !! HOW MUCH LONGER IS THIS GRAND PRIX SYSTEM GOING TO BE ALLOWED TO RUIN SPEEDWAY. THE RACE DIRECTOR IS A DISGRACE. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN. GRAND PRIX/RACE DIRECTOR - FOR GOD'S SAKE GO, GO NOW, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!! My Sport is being brought into disrepute by people who either don't know what they are doing OR are criminally negligent. I have watched or, as tonight, tried to watch most of the Grand Prix. They are not, never will be a World Championship - how can they be? Sixteen Riders selected before the Season actually starts - so only one of those sixteen can win it. The one off World Championship - now there was an OCCASION. What's more ANY Speedway Rider could win it from the GREATEST to the LEAST. Jack Young won it as a SECOND DIVISION Rider. World Cup - JOKER - need I say more. SPEEDWAY R.I.P.

Nevs
Disgraceful-So feel for the fans that have paid hundreds or thousands of pounds and for many possibly their only holiday of the year-cant see a refund of ticket and a free one for a BSI GP making it up that much. If it had been at an outdoor track then sure, you know you may just possibly run the risk of a rain off--But an indoor one?? Just beggers belief. From Conkers photos shown earlier was that a press conference shown after it was cancelled, or from an earlier one? Has anybody actually to people's knowledge, actually faced a TV crew to explain what has happened apart from the one statement ? I know it isnt Formula 1 but surely there must be something somewhere to watch someone involved explain things and how they have turned out as they have today in terms of on camera-they are quick enough at the end of a GP normally to get views etc. Surely it hasnt been just a statement and leaflets at the gate. Wolfsbane
SGP. From the people who bought you last sunday's Prix de L'Abbaye. What planet are these people on? Showpiece events, weapon's grade f**k ups.
Bobbin' Along
Strange, isn't it, that all the forumites based in Germany at the moment have been reporting stonking hot weather, yet the BSI/FIM press release says that the combination of wet shale and low temperatures in the stadium meant that the track was not fit for racing. At least knowing that it was called off at lunchtime explains why it was that Rosco was advertising the footy at his pub rather than the speedway! I'm angry at the whole situation. It makes speedway look, as was aptly put in an earlier post, like a mickey mouse sport. The sight of Keith Hewen trying to explain why it had been called off - without laughing and calling it a farce - was awful. Chris Louis looked like he could hardly contain his anger, and appeared to be stopping just short of calling them all clowns. If, and TBH we don't really know what happened, it was a schoolboy error by Olsen then he must go. It's been bad enough seeing bald, slick tracks all season (because he likes them like that) and the ridiculously dangerous track he prepared at Gothenburg. Humphrey Appleby
according to the venues website, an article from 5 weeks ago said they ahd already sold Over 10,000 tickets so sales must ahve been going well Claiming you've sold 10,000 tickets does not make it so. Claiming that the barge shipping the shale got wet is also pretty lame. Have they not heard of covering it?

Have they not heard of covering it? It has got to be the lamest excuse ever for cancelling a meeting . On the bright side , at least the final GP will be on a proper speedway track . However i feel so very sorry for all the people who have went over there .
