Blazeaway
could they not have used Nikkis hairdryer or the uk virsion of the giant hair dryer that was never used . Er, wouldn't that be in the UK?
Mr Bee
Personally I don't think this is anything other than a huge cock up. Far too many people would have to be involved for anything underhand to have occured. I'm sure Jason will be glad of another weeks recovery too. What price AJ to win next week? What price for AJ to turn up next week!!
colincooke
The more i read this the more pi**ed off i'm becoming. If this is a fix then someone at the F.I.M has to make someone accountable , either individually or collectively. I believe Castagna is the big cheese these days? No pushing this under the carpet, a price has to be payed.
Blazeaway
What price for AJ to turn up next week!! 200k up for grabs at his home Polish track? You bet your ar$e he'll be there!

scottymelloty
You read and post on this forum, surely you've heard of media "spin". Otherwise known as bulls##t. well it was from an article 5 weeks ago so it isnt made uo today or anything,, they could have lied but ive tried to provide sound reasoning behind it from ana rticle,, your just making a complete guess that ticket sales were so low that they would totally rearange a whole GP meeting that would mess up live tv etc and they are getting paid loads from that ,, plus they are gicing refunds and free tickets so again that is going to cost them the equivalent of low ticket sales anyway ,, they might as well have given free tickets to this if that was the case unless you have some proof of low ticket sales that would cause such an extreme move from them to cancel it ? pugwash
Don't forget IMG / BSI would have been well insured against a call off. So by binning the event and re-scheduling they wouldn't have lost much, if anything. Sky TV wouldn't really give a hoot, they don't have camera crews / personnel out there so it's just a matter of re-scheduling next saturday. (Out goes a re-run of "Hulk Hogan v Gordon Ramsey Rage Cage Meltdown", in comes the "Can Tomek Win $200k Bydgoszcz GP" which has potentially bigger audience figures that the "Ovaltine Gelsensen GP") Edited October 11, 2008 by pugwash
arnieg
My comiserations to those who travelled to Germany (at a considerable cost) for nothing Personally I don't subscribe to the conspiracy theories - most of the parties involved are too incompetent to organise a decent conspiracy
davidba
Feel so sorry for those whov'e paid for flights/hotels etc they wont get that back!Nearly went myself so obviously glad i didn't but i could still be affected by this as have flight/hotel next Friday for Wroclaw golden helmet, but unsure now if this will happen with Gollob, Holta, Kasprzak at Bydgoscz the next day, will have to wait and see. Following speedway outside your home town is a real big gamble, but one i guess you think your safe from if they have a roof!!
jaybea39
Was it Mr Bellamy who in the Speedway Star a few months back claimed that British Speedway had to get its house in Order...........ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .......Sorry for all the supporters out there.....I know there is a coach from Ipswich there....including Badge and LW......I am sure they will put there feelings on here when they get back ........ jb
Seb the Snail
What a total joke. I'm so glad that I'm not one of the poor souls who have wasted their hard-earned cash on this trip. I don't buy the conspiracy theories, but I do think that this should be the end for the German GP, and hopefully for Olsen as well. Two other things spring to mind. Firstly, what will Mrs Gollob spend the Super Prix money on? Secondly, can Rosco sue the FIM for tonight's loss of takings?

ljh
Have to agree totally with the following: Jacques post 27. The meeting at Gelsenkirchen last year was a disgrace to speedway, I recall only two passes all night and one was Nicholls decking Harris in the last place runoff. Steve Shovlar post 56. I drove there with my wife last year, we were guests of sponsors Subspecies (a close friend) and found it easy-ish to find our way there. But, and it's a big but, due to the pathetic meeting we would never bother going back there again and I suspect many more from last year wouldn't either, hence the alleged low ticket sales figures. Rabbit post 59. You hit the nail firmly on the head, a complete lack of professionalism from those concerned. If there were underhand forces at work to: (1) help the smirking hairdrier recover from injury. (2) cover up ticket volumes. (3) give yet another G.P. meeting to Poland. Etc. Etc. Then those responsible will have a hell of a job covering it all up adequately without the help of the national media, not the speedway ones, as they already do that to try and give the illusion of all being well. Rod Haynes.
iris123
From what i have heard they had sold 11,500 tickets. So not a big late surge from the 10,000 reported before
geordieboi
think the one thing that stands out most for me on the conspiracy theory front is the lack of a replay anywhere on the tv listings. i might be wrong, but i thought every single live speedway match this year has been shown again a few hours later on sky sports - usually towards the midnight or early hours of the next day. yet on all of the listings i've looked at, there is absolutely no slot for any replay at all - as if it was known in advance by the planners it wouldn't be happening... i dunno, just conjecture like most people - but makes me wonder !! *strokes chin*
speedwaygal11
if they wanted a big sell out for the grand final, wht not arrange it at Cardiff next week, it will be guarenteed to not be affected by any weather, as it has a roof (not trying to rub salt in the wounds), and has the biggest audience from them all..!! Also riders that are riding in th CS don't have that far to travel? Sorry but does that not make sence (or is that why they haven't thought about it)

Concrete Cowboy
I have just seen this and quite frankly i have never heard of anything so ludicrous in all my life. To be honest after everything else that has gone on with the sport this year i am seriously wondering wether to bother next year.

Just wait in a few weeks or months time when we get a thread started about "Why the sport isn't bigger?"or "Why the media don't give us more attention?"
