PhilK
Looks like this meeting is not taking place this year? Nothing on the Wolverhampton website about it? Does anyone know what is happening? Edited September 29, 2008 by PhilK

21st century heathen
There are no meetings at Wolves this week, next week or the last week of the month. So it could have been fitted in. The relegation play off will be on the 14th and they have the Olympique on the 20th. Potentially there's just the PO final to fit in if they lose to the other EL team. There must have been opportunities ear;ier in the year too.

Parsloes 1928 nearly
Do Reading not have a spare date..?? The Monday before their big farewell meeting would be an excellent time for this championship and a good way for Smallmead to bow out IMHO... Scunny Stag
Scunthorpe awarded British Under-18 Final Scunthorpe Speedway have been awarded the 2008 British Under-18 Final and it will be run at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Monday 27th October (start time 7.30pm). 2007 champion, and former Scorpion, Tai Woffinden will be defending his crown and amongst the main challengers will be two other former Scorpions, Joe Haines and Josh Auty, who finished third and fourth respectively in last year’s final. Whilst the full line-up is yet to be finalised riders who could line-up include Premier League regulars Jack Roberts (Birmingham), Nicki Glanz (Reading) and Jerran Hart (Newcastle) along with Conference League riders like Ben Taylor (Buxton), Daniel Greenwood and Richard Franklin (Rye House), Brendan Johnson and Kyle Newman (Weymouth) along with Scunthorpe Saints’ riders Ben Hopwood and Adam Wrathall. It is also hoped that one or two riders from the British Under-15 championship will be allowed to compete. The Monday night date wasn’t the club’s first choice but was necessary to ensure the highest quality field would be riding for the national title. It means there isn’t likely to be a meeting on Friday 24th October unless the Scorpions can make it all the way to the Young Shield Final or further rain-offs cause fixture congestion as the season draws to a close. Upon hearing that the club had been awarded the prestigious event Promoter Rob Godfrey commented “It is great that we have got some meaningful fixtures to end the season and it isn’t going to go out like a damp squib. We’re sorry there are two fixtures in the final week but the opportunity to run this meeting was too good to turn down. Hopefully fans will save their money from the Friday night and come and see the best young British talent in the sport. It does mean we will have Tai (Woffinden), Josh (Auty) and Joe (Haines) ride in our last two meetings but considering their outstanding talent that can only be a good thing”. PhilK
Great choice imo, firstly choosing one of the fairest recetracks in the country and secondly bringing it to the Premier League. Should be an excellent meeting and one I will be looking forward to.

Fourentee
Well, that's excellent news. I was worried that no date had appeared on the Wolves site for this and rather assumed it wouldn't be staged at all. Have really enjoyed the two U18 meetings run at Monmore. Good luck to all competitors. Only down side, personally, is not being able to go to Scunny to see it. I shall be at Monmore watching Wolves attempt to claw back – sorry, I shall be at Monmore watching the second leg of the relegation match with Edinburgh. Guest Steve Dixon
I believe Dan Greenwods place is now taken by James Sarjeant.
Scunny Stag
Saint Sarjeant to make bow Speedway fans will get their first chance to see 2009 Scunthorpe Saints’ rider James Sarjeant in senior action on Monday night at the Eddie Wright Raceway. 14-year old James, who has been runner-up in the British Under-15 Championship for the last two years, will step up to ride in the British Under-18 Championship after Weymouth’s Kyle Newman was forced to pull out of the meeting. Have heard today that Dan Greenwood will not be taking part but not sure of his replacement as yet, presumably one of the two other reserves. PhilK
Final meeting of the season for me and really looking forward to this one. Although somewhat in the style of the Premier League of Football the top three look pretty much booked with Woffinden, Haines and Auty, there will be plenty of interest below with plenty of riders capable of filling the next five places. whippy
A question......... is Joe Haines still able to compete in this meeting? Not available for Boston meetings because of Workington meetings even when Workington were not riding when Boston were. Can someone clarify this point for me please? Great Central
BSPA event and Kyle was not invited to participate. He is not alone by any means, and doesn't this just show the contempt for the youngsters, and their parents/he;pers that formal notification has not been thought necessary. I was hoping to get through at least one day without getting angry but not to be. I must stop looking on the Forum!! Best wishes to Kyle in Australia - I am sure that he will come back a better rider but isn't it a pity that he has to travel half way round the world for such support. Not available for Boston meetings because of Workington meetings even when Workington were not riding when Boston were, so if he is riding it is a kick in the teeth for Boston........just a little bit. Can someone clarify this point for me please? / Why not?, neither Workington or Boston are riding tomorrow so he will be there I would assume! I don't know why he didn't ride at Plymouth friday, maybe he didn't fancy the trip from Plymouth to Berwick It's certainly not a kick in the teeth for Boston Whippy, after all this is the British U18 Final! A little bit of perspective is needed I feel. Edited October 26, 2008 by PhilK
