Recommended Posts

AJ now seems determined to actually switch to polish license. AJ says that he his tired of Sweden.

The polish National Team captain Cieślak says that he will help AJ with aquiring a polish license.

What another kick in the balls for Polish riders.

yeah definitely.

As many have already said in this thread, FIM should ban riders from GP, World Cup etc. if they switches from one license to another.

Personally i thinks its more behind this then the fines he got after the Swedish final.

As we say in Poland; if you don't know what's it all about - it's all about the money.

There's a regulation in Ekstraliga that no more than 2 GP riders are available in match squad. There are also rumours;

- Jonsson is in contact with Czestochowa about signing a contract for next season

- there will be another regulation in Ekstraliga, that presence of at least 3 POLISH riders in match squad will be obligatory

While Ulamek is in GP he is probably out of Czestochowa. Of course Jonsson beeing Polish GP rider is the same as Ulamek beeing Polish GP rider, but still Andreas seems to be much more valuable on the track. It is also possible (what was mentioned in media a few weeks ago) that primary sponsor of Czestochowa isn't going to help them next year (or not so much as so far) so maybe one of the most expensive riders which is Nicky is out of Czestochowa. Having 2 GP riders like Hancock and Andreas is still better than Hancock and Ulamek.

Whatever it is, I don't think it's really about conflict with SVEMO. The irony is, that Holta was also made Pole by Czestochowa. It was in 2003 while only 2 foreign riders were allowed, and they didn't want to choose beetwen Rune and... Andreas :)

The root of their dispute is a 1,000-krona (104-euro) fine Jonsson received for pulling out of last month's Swedish championships following concerns about the rain-soaked track.

104 Euros = £80ish... Can you believe it?

The worlds biggest sulk for something barely more than what you would get in this country for a speeding ticket.

If someone wants him they will be welcome to him. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but how anyone can desert their country over anything, let alone something so petty is beyond me.

I've been caught on a GATSO in Birmingham, and received a £60 fine for my actions, but that's not made me say "to hell with Birmingham, I wanna be a Cockney" or anything remotely similar. Maybe I'm out of setep though. Has anyone here's who's been caught speeding in their home town, upped sticks and moved to somewhere else as a result?

Poland would be a laughing stock if they have Jonsson and Holta representing them in the GP and SWC.

Shouldn't think the "real" Polish riders would be too pleased about it, either.

SCB? Hasn't he left Wales and become an Englishman?

Eating Pot Noodles? Thats worse than the suggestion of becoming English :o

Gemini, it's 2-2 between England and Wales for trying to prosecute me :D

If I was a Brummie I'd try and change. Don't think Cockney would be my first choice though.

AJ's statement which I've just put on his website:

Me and my team members are tired of all phone calls which we've been answering constantly. Everyone's asking what I'm planning and whether I'm going to be "the second Holta". It's true I'm trying to get Polish citizenship but that's been happening for quite a bit of time, for at least two months. But now it's been linked with that frustrating situation from the Swedish Championships final and the storm has started! I have no intention at all to renounce my Swedish citizenship and my efforts to get a Polish passport have nothing to do with speedway or representing my country. For a few years I've been spending lots of my time in Poland and I lead a normal daily life here. Not only my speedway life. I run a company here as well. Every year I'm more and more tied to this country by my business. Unfortunately, being Swedish I encounter many restrictions when it comes to my business activities in Poland. Some things are forbidden, others are restricted for foreigners here. For example investments. I spend in Poland more time and I'm more involved in some Polish issues than some of Polish emigrants who live in England, Sweden or Germany. So all my efforts to get Polish citizenship are caused strictly by business reasons. I run a company in Poland and I want to lead my business activities in Poland in a more normal and easier way. That's all.

Poor old Tony Millard can you imagine next years commentary for the GP’s. In red we have Rune Jonsson the Norwegian Pole riding on a Swedish Licence, no sorry Andreas Holta the Swedish Norwegian, riding on a Polish licence :lol:

Classic - and we know it would happen
