Danish And Australian Gp 2009

Recommended Posts

Not seen this posted anywhere else. But according to Danish media, the Danish GP will continue at Parken in 2009, 10 and 11. A press conference will be held later today.

AND there will be an Australian GP in Melbourne in November 2009!! Hans and Nicki are not particularly happy about this, as it will extend the season with an extra month..

And Mads Korneliussen will replace Jonas Davidsson in Zielona Gora on Sunday.

Best regards.

Janus

Surely it would make sense to bring in another round as well so the riders are not sitting around for 3 weeks or a month waiting for the last round.

It'll probably take 'em that long to get out here anyhow!! Seriously, any info on where this Press Release comes from?

It was in the Speedway Star, last week I think, about plans for the Aussie GP.

It may be that the GP series starts a few weeks later than usual in May if there's not any other extra rounds and finishes in Europe for the British season ending with the Aussie GP finishing off?

And if it does come about for Melbourne, we'll see Chris Holder in a GP as the wildcard no doubt before he's in there full time, woohoo :approve:

If its in Melbourne in November they'd hafta use the Dome.. Very nice stadium, very central, won't be cheap!!

It was posted on an Australian board by someone who has the same name as an MA official that November 2009 at Telstra Dome in Melbourne was one for the calendars even this far out.

And financially the last Oz GP was a flop, the racing itself while not brilliant was no better or worse than many of the other GP's. For those who were there it was darn cold though !!

May have been a financial bath for the Promoter but that could have been due to the Junketeering of European FIM officials perhaps? Certainly when I saw it (eventually, having been busy saving East Timor at the time) the racing looked pretty good and Scotty nearly stole it!

Quite true BFD. The rumours I heard were that the promoter budgeted for a loss seeing it was the first one and uncharted waters but the cost of the junketeering, a penalty for not getting the track removed within a specified time after the meeting and a penalty for damage to the infield helped push the loss far higher than he had planned.

Shame Scotty didn't pinch it to be honest, the forum would have had about 10,000 fewer posts over the ensuing 6 years I'm sure  .

In that case, what would be different next time around? However, I believe the local promoter was also responsible for the transport and shipping costs which were significant, and I heard he was shafted for the prize money as well.

Good racing unfortunately doesn't pay the bills though!

its one of those i know someon high up posts but talks are in an advanced stage for australian gp to be held on sat nov 14 at melbourne telstra dome, should be confirmed by the end of the year.

I did read earlier in the year that Ole Olsen had been doing the rounds in Australia. with a view to an Aussie Gp next year.

Looks like he has decided on Melbourne then!
