That's correct.

Why not another foreign rider using the Conference League to leapfrog over more young British riders into the Premier league next season.

Marvellous

Even that fine defender of the faith Uncle Lennie has slipped one ino his Conference Team this year. What is the World coming to.

Andrew Aldridge isn't the first Antipodean to ride in the CL for Rye House. Joel Parsons started at Rye House before Len sold him and used the money to purchase Stuart Robson.

Aldridge is by no means ready for a PL place judging by his performances this year.

Darcy Ward seems to be much further developed. He'll do mighty fine for the Kings Lynn second team at West Row in the PL next year while you're watching your first team languish near the bottom of the Elite ;)

I haven't missed a home PL meeting in two years. Looking like 50/50 for Wednesday too ;)

This was an ok meeting, Darcy Ward was exceptional and looks like the next Chris Holder.

Benji took his chance well, Halsey started slow or would have beenon the rostrum.

Herne looked good, but never managed a pass against top oppo.

Lambo was dissapointing and Tom Brown in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hope he and all the others who bit the Hoddesdon dust are ok.

Plenty of editing for me, but DVD will be available soon.

Holder wasnt giving ppl starts at PL level so if Ward is at CL then there isnt much comparison.

I simply don't understand your logic here!

It doesn't matter surely if a rider "gives people starts", as you put it, if that rider ends up winning!!

Isn't that frankly what Speedway is all about!!

The greatest rider I ever saw (and I'm sure ever will see...) Peter Collins, more often than not "gave others starts" at the VERY highest level; and was able, again more often than not, to beat them anyhow. In the process he delivered a level of sheer excitement the like of which I suspect we'll never see again.

I've yet to see young Darcy ride but if he's missing the gate but storming from behind to beat all-comers then all power to him!! We have a youngster at Sittingbourne, Marc Owen who is also capable of this.. :approve:

So, if all you want to see is perfect gating and processional racing, good luck to you.. I know what I prefer!!!

I am simply commenting on the comparison between Holder and Ward.

From what i've seen written on Ward he is a great passer/racer who certainly will be one of the most exciting new riders in next years PL. However the chances of making it as far as the GP's like Holder undoubtedly will if you can't gate at CL level is very low. That's the point i'm trying to make, from what's been seen so far the Holder / Ward comparison just doesn't hold up. It just adds to the pressure on him as does the expectation of Kl which already seems to be building up. Ward needs to progress at his own pace and not have unrealistic hopes raised.

To compare a 16yr old rider whose last into the first corner in the CL with a guy who jumped into the PL with a 8+ average is being very unrealistic.

if you can't gate at CL level

Darcy certainly can gate, but at the CLRC his clutch was set up differently by John Oliver to try to help things but he took some time to get used to it.

something else that may suprise one or two is that Darcy is not using any super tuned equipment, he is using engines out of the powerslide bikes at Kings Lynn, so pretty much run of the mill machines.

i would say that Darcy's achievements so far this season are even more impressive because of that.

If Darcy isn't at the same level as Noddy is now when he reaches his age then I will be very surprised.

Everything about his riding is phenominal for a sixteen year old.

You know what this sport needs..?

In the absense of a proper qualifying system for the World Championship - by which, as in the past, talented youngsters would have a route to glory (Ronnie Moore, Peter Collins, Michael Lee World Finalists as teens..! :approve: ) - then, when picking people for the GPs, ditch all the old no-hoper, no-interest fellas currently clogging it up and replace them with Tai, Darcy and co. and shake up the whole process.

We saw how Tai rode in the WTC Final so let's not hear these arguments thast they wouldn't be ready (!); and to be honest, unless we want to GPs to die on their ar*e, we need these exciting youngsters in there right NOW..!! :approve:

Having followed Chris Holder and Tai since their early days and many others, I think I know a good rider for the future when I see one (I have been following this sport for 44 years).

This kid appears to have what it takes, I am not putting any extra pressure on him, I am stating that I think he could be the next Chris Holder. He is a racer not a rider and that is what I am judging.

He has five years to catch Chris who is the best around as far as I am concerned.

Good luck to him, shame he's not a Brit.

Marc Owen is another who could along with Joe Haines and a few others help put the Great Back in Britain as far as speedway goes.
