Steve Shovlar
and deserves to a better rider than the 3 that qualified. Sorry that isn't the case. Nicholls is not in the top 8 as yet so doesn't deserve it over the three that got in tonight. they are there by earning their place. nicholls is there because someone has let him have a place. If nicholls was there by right he would have been in tonights meeting, or in the top 8 at the end of the series.
Adam 74
Congratulations to Seba Ulamek, a top bloke and even if most people do think he will struggle, he beat what was put in front of him, done the job and deserves his place in the series next year! ballinger
The GP'S are close to getting to predictable, bit like F1. Care needs to be taken else tv intrest etc will begin to slip. Comments by the Sky presenter last night along the lnes all being over and not good for tv could see a fall in coverage. The time is so right to run a qualifier prior to each GP. Come on CCP you know it makes sense !!
Nazza
Will next years GP be boring? Well you don't know until you see the full 15 riders participating. Just because some riders aren't world beaters doesn't mean they wont be good entertainment. Ulamek is gate and go, but if the track is prepared correctly then you will see alot of racing. What would you prefer to see, the top 15 riders in the world going from gates to tapes with no passing or a conference meeting with lots of passing? Seb the Snail
The trouble we have at the moment is the series is dominated by about 5 or so riders, all in their mid to late 30s. I know what you mean, but Nicki is only 31 and Hans is 27, so it's not quite as you suggest. I agree that if riders like PK or Sullivan had qualified, and so potentially kept out youngsters like Lindgren and Holder, it wouldn't have been particularly inspiring, but a World Championship should be based on ability and nothing else. philfromcov
im sure the cry will go up again nicholls is no good and harris dont deserve a place..... lets face facts here the british supporters and british TV bankroll the GP series, if that means the two brits get automatic places then so be it, even if they get 1 or 0 points each gp. cardiff gets more supporters than all the tracks put together, what does that tell us? that none speedway people go and want to see brits ride, they are not interested in joe a to z from polland, they want to see brits, sky too, if ther were no brits sky would soon get fed up as the audiences would die. they worst thing anyone could do is listen to this forum, the majority who would pay to see four flys race on an oval circuit, we are not typical! in summary: there should always be at least two places for brits, not matter how bad they get! its all about money at the end of the day Edited September 14, 2008 by philfromcov
Subedei
cardiff gets more supporters than all the tracks put together, what does that tell us? Please supply evidence to support that statement. Leszno had circa 20,000 and Bydgoszcz circa 17,000, which adds up to about 37,000. The stated attendance for Cardiff was circa 42,000. So, you're suggesting that Krsko, Copenhagen, Gothenberg, Daugavpils, Malilla and Prague managed less that 6,000 between them?
Chris Brown
Christ, I thought my evening couldn't get anymore dull with those qualifiers but it just has. Give it a rest. Yes its been done to death but it does hold true. IMO no rider that did not enter the qualification process should be given a wild card, end of story. Nicholls would carry a lot more credibility as a nomination if he entered the qualification process rather than rely on the 'got to have 2 Brits in it' assumption. But it's too risky, young fellow. His credibility as a nomination would be zero if he flunked the qualifiers. It's just far easier to just sit them out, than risk being humiliated by the likes of Bjerre, Walasek and Ulamek. After all, the global superstar is a prince of the sport. Jenn
What makes u think being Norwegian, or Italian, German or Russian for that sake would make it easier to get in among top 4 nations? It is just politics but in a real world Holta should be picked before both Nicholls, Harris and Lindgren for next year. After all he has won a GP and he is also in the Super Prix........ I for one would love to see what happens if he finishes in 9th place and then wins the Super Prix!! But in theory Lindgren was better in the round that Holta won Iversen should get a wildcard next year - I have a feeling that hes on the brink and with an injury free season he could turn some heads in the series. Forget about him being Danish - The Danes are by far the best country in World Speedway at the moment and they deserve the extra riders in the GP's. Holder is a must - esp if talk of an Aussie GP turns out to be correct. Other 2 places to the ones out of Holta, Lindgren and Nicholls that dont get 8th place. IMO no rider that did not enter the qualification process should be given a wild card, end of story. I suppose you could also argue that anyone who DID enter, didn't make it and so shouldn't be there either? I don't know about Lindgren though - think Jonas or another Swede should get a chance. Unlike Gollob who when things aren't going his way changes bikes 27 times and then throws his toys out of the pram, and then just goes through the motions for the rest of the meeting

Silver Bee
Last time Gollob did that was Prague 07 where he was frankly embarrassing. Since then he's realised how much he wants the GP's and is a model pro.
