Swedish Playoffs 2008

Recommended Posts

What a meeting, what a meeting the best? I have witnessed from Vetlanda.

It was just awesome to sit in front of the telly and watch it on needles!

Bad luck for AJ tough who had a puncture in the race off.

Brilliant riding by; Crump, Hampel, Klindt and AJ.

Attendance in Vetlanda was: 5411

Attendance in Gislaved was: 4016

Next week I will be very disappointed if there are under 8000 in Vetlanda!

Can I just say one thing...

OH......MY......GOD!

My legs are still shaking...

Go Elit Vetlanda! :approve:

I was thinkin along the lines of "last weeks tarabanko" in the early heats of the meeting, but actually found myself weeping on the living room floor when Hampel GAVE his heat 16 battle to Jonsson. Robin Bergqvist was also a disappointment.

I think Hampel wil never again win Crump. Hearing Crump say to him when they were picking the gates for heat 17 that you take whatever you take and I'll take whats left and take care of the others was something I've not heard of before.

For me it proves what a brilliant teamrider he is Mr Crump!

Heard that Nicki had a awesome heat yesterday, Ryan Sullivan led by 30 metres and Nicki was last but stating Nicki himself 'I was getting angry and really wanted to win' so he took two riders at the same bend and then flew by Sullivan on the next bend so Sullivan has a cold now of the drag then Nicki powered into the lead! :)

Imagine what fights we can expect next week when Crump and Nicki will meet several times. Crump is actually one of those who actually can challenge Nicki.

I am pretty sure that the fight between Nicki and Crump will make the difference in the final. If Crump beats Nicki, Vetlanda will win.

I must say I'm almost falling in love with Jason Crump, rather unexpectedly ;)

Firstly he told Jarek Hampel to pick the gate he wanted for the run-off, to just go out and win and not to worry about Crump because he would sort himself out. And then when Hans Andersen tried his usual tactic of almost putting riders through the fence on the straights - Jason wasn't intimidated just enraged and came back on Hans down the backstraight delivering the very same. Now that's a champion and a great team captain in the midst of combat.

Vetlanda yesterday:

MAN OF THE MATCH: Jason Crump

MOST EXCITING RIDER: Nicolai Klindt

MOST UNFAIR RIDER: Hans Andersen allways to dirty......look against Hampel yesterday several times.......

Jarek allowed himself to be intimidated by Hans hard riding. Didn't think he was dirty, just very hard IMO.

Well, as long as riders are intimidated and give in it's hard racing. If they don't give in, chances are good they will take a very nasty spill. At top speed since it's on the straights Hans uses this move. Would it be dirty riding then?

"Dirty Riding" Is when a rider is given no options, Jarek was given an option last night. IMO hard but fair.

Well the option of "give in or die" is not much of an option I reckon :)

I'm just saying, when Hans kills someone with that move (which he uses far too often) nobody will think it was hard but fair.

I very much doubt that will happen. Jason showed how it can be combatted lets hope other riders take note. :)

MOST EXCITING RIDER: Nicolai Klindt

Glad to see that. :approve:

Sometimes i wonder with this forum.Keep reading in Wolves threads that if Nicolai makes the gate he is good, but can't do anything if he doesn't.That just doesn't describe the rider i see in Denmark.Just the same as when people call Kenneth Bjerre a gating tart!Maybe these guys just don't ride English tracks the way they ride in Scandinavia? :approve:

But that takes tremendous amounts of both balls and skill, which most riders don't have. That's why they fold, that's why the move works, that's why Anderssen uses it etc.

Nevermind, it was so good to see it fail :D

Next week will be one of the best for a long time for me, Zetters and Jarly then we are driving down to Vetlanda on early tuesday afternoon to see Elit Vetlanda - Lejonen and then sleep at Anders Nilsson place and on wednesday we are taking the supporterbus from Vetlanda to Gislaved to see the big final between Lejonen - Elit Vetlanda and then back to sleep at Anders place.

Thanks Anders for letting us three Eskilstuna boys to stay at your place!

Go Elit Vetlanda!!!

My thoughts exactly! Haven't read that about Nicolai but what a ride he produced in heat 12 of the Vetlanda meeting as he fought like an animal before finally being able to pass Peter Ljung. I first saw Nicolai in Tony Rickardsson's Final Lap meeting in Poole and was very impressed and have never seen him as a gate only rider.

Kenneth Bjerre, well, I've seen him making some of the most memorable passes ever for as long as I've been watching speedway and I can't understand which Bjerre turns up in Britain to deserve a "gating tart" label.

Same with Lee Richardson who chased Peter Karlsson for almost four laps before diving under him on bend three of the final lap in the Målilla semifinal. Must also mention a blast-around against Scott Nicholls in Eskilstuna a few years back, so he can definitely pass. Calling him "sicknote" or "gating tart" makes me furious, for as long as he has been with Elit Vetlanda, he's been a top class performer throughout the years. The 2008 season has probably been one of his best ever, so hands off! :approve:

No problems, we'll need all the extra Elit Vetlanda supporters we can get for the return leg in Gislaved. B)

At the start of the year Nicolai was riding so hard and really trying but he would just lock up on the bends and lose to any rider, good or bad... Now he has learnt a few more lines he is much better from the back, but is still learning the hard way over here. When he passes someone it is very spectacular for sure! What I do like about him is he never gives up. When he is winning he wins fast and has a good style.

A few years back at Parken in the Danish GP,not being used to seeing a lot of the riders i didn't instantly recognise a lot of them.Anyway i was watching the racing and was really impressed with one guy.Looked in the programme and it was Richardson. Not sure if i had seen him before.I had just heard all about him being a "gating tart" from this forum. So you can imagine my surprise that he was one of the more exciting riders in the meeting :blink:

Maybe it is like trees says that they feel more confident on tracks away from England.I know from talking to someone who was at the Esbjerg v Holsted meeting last week, that Nicki and Kenneth had some very good races together
