Guest Ashie Smashy
It's not pure madness at all. It's the rules. What next? Not getting excluded if you only touch the tapes a little bit? I mean, as long as you don't break them excluding the rider only delays the meeting. Jonsson was rightly excluded. Barker should've been excluded twice at Coventry last Monday. Totally different Sub, Jonsson was on the wire so to speak, it is hard to tell from the Sky coverage but from the 6 seconds at the pits entrance to arriving at the tapes must have been so close, I felt he was within the time limit based off the fact he was excluded as he pulled level with the other riders. If the rules say he must be up at the tapes ready to race and he was excluded, then neither were the other three, they were some feet back. Rules are rules I agree but I dunno, this exclusion seemed petty for all but a second or two. The Barker incidents were totally different, he was clearly well and truly over the 2 minutes and nowhere near the tapes or other riders so should have been excluded. superguest
I hate when Pearson says 'and.. trailing off at the back' after the first bend when they are all within a few bike lengths from each other. OK if they are trailing off at the back then say it, but if their right behind then it just irritates me. rickmiller
Do not know if it has been mentioned but nice touch from Hancock when he touched a Booey sign on his pit sponsors board prior to the final. Greg and the team had badges made up for their pit shirts and stickers made up for the boards at the Czech GP. We also had the privelidge of flying Darrens personal 'stars and stripes' flag on the night too. The speedway community are also going to get some wristbands made up with all proceeds going into a trust fund for young Jack. Even if you dont wear it, please buy one Booey and Sharon will never ever be forgotten. By the way, did you you know that Greg is the oldest rider in the Gp series?? Same here, he just seems to say it every single race regardless of whether the rider in 4th is actually trailing off or not. Brilliant about the wristbands - make sure you spread the word and loads will be raised. Darren and Sharon both seemed like fantastic people. Guest Ashie Smashy
I hate when Pearson says 'and.. trailing off at the back' after the first bend when they are all within a few bike lengths from each other. And calls the heat, 'this will be a 5-1 to....'. As we all know the race is over 4 laps and often changes beyond the first bend, it also adds to the misconception that speedway is all about gating and the first bend. Millard or Pearson.... we are so spoilt

Even if you dont wear it, please buy one I have a source in the US that can supply wristbands, we have purchased a lot from this company over the last few years and even with the shipping costs they are still much more competitive than suppliers I found here in the UK. Can send you the link if you have not already sourced them.
KEITH M
The phrase that winds me up most (and now Kelvin is saying it too) is 'steal a march' or stolen a march etc. The one that winds me up the most is when Tatum keeps saying "He nearly had to put the brakes on there"

Guest Ashie Smashy
The one that winds me up the most is when Tatum keeps saying "He nearly had to put the brakes on there" Well I know it is confusing because they don't have brakes, but that don't bother me because I know what he means. I use that term when skiing too, he is just talking metaphorically. Edited August 31, 2008 by Ashie Smashy
Chris
I have grown fond recently to Tatums "from the get go" phrase.
Gemini
And .....trailing at the back..... Somebody should tell him that there are four riders in a race, one finishes 1st, one finishes 2nd, one finishes 3rd and the other rider finishes 4th. I've even heard him say that after a close finish for 3rd and 4th to the line. I hate repetitions and try not to let Millard annoy me, but that is really bugging me at the moment. "And right at the back is........" It doesn't matter whether it's the first lap and the rider is actually right at the back or challenging for 3rd place (which is what happened several times on Saturday) he's not "in 4th place at the moment", he's right at the back. Arrgh! And whilst we're talking repetitions how about Chris Harris? He seems to start every sentence with "Oh definitely." I'm just waiting for the interviewer to say something along the lines of "Well, Chris you have had a pretty rubbish G.P. so far." I'm sure Chris will still say "Oh definitely." From PC to KC.
And why do the riders think its funny, to pretend they are going to pick the worst gate, when they have first pick like were all shocked when they don't. Hancocks shameless plugging of that can of drink (III), is beginning to get right on my t.ts.
Coventry_Bee
So if Kelvin and the sky team shut up, the riders arn`t interviewed we are all happy
mickthemuppet
Don't know if this is true or not. The riders have two minutes to be up to the tapes everywhere except at Coventry where I think it is 3 minutes as Ben Barker did not get to the tapes until 2 mins 56 secs in the 2nd heat. In a later heat he was much quicker onlyl being 2mins 24 seconds.
Guest Ashie Smashy
So if Kelvin and the sky team shut up, the riders arn`t interviewed we are all happy No, just get decent sports commentators and the riders let their riding do the talking. Not difficult.
