The Indians are in the hunt for a Play Off place and could win, even though league leaders Lejonen are at full strength with an inspiring reserve duo of Sebastian Ulamek and Ricky Kling. They should cause the home team some problems, but several of the rides in the main body of the team could find themselves in problems. Tomasz Jedrzejak hasn't done miracles on this track, and neither Holder and Swiderski have been there AFAIK.

 

If the league leaders are favourites for this one, they should be consider a favourite in danger. The Indians need the points more than Lejonen and do have home track advantage, but on the other hand, a team with Nicki Pedersen in the line-up will always be in contention for the win. Interesting!

A hot Piraterna team against second-to-bottom MasarnaAvesta, without Leigh Adams and the injured Simon Stead, will most likely finish in only one way. Sure, the away team probably need the points to stay out of last place, but the motivation factor won't help them. The Pirates are without Daniel Nermark but Rafal Okoniewski has been a good substitute for the Swedish WTC rider and has moved up to No 2 with Mikael Max going down to reserve.

Hammarby have three meetings to try and get among the top six (for a Play Off place), but it will be hard on Tuesday as they're missing the services by Matej Zagar, Scott Nicholls, Joonas Kylmäkorpi and Rafal Dobrucki, four riders who definitely would have been in the line-up if available.

 

The away team from Målilla arrives at full strength with Lukas Dryml getting another chance, the GP rider has a high capacity but has struggled big time away from home. Despite that, Dackarna should be able to solve that problem considering the home side have far greater problem on the day.

The two teams that meet each other in Hallstavik have both suffered setbacks lately. Rospiggarna are missing Adam Shields who could be out for the season but team manager Mikael Messing can use the Riders Replacement facility for him. However, it hasn't been confirmed if that will be case, but it sure is likely.

 

Even bigger problems for last placed Smederna who misses the injured Jonas Davidsson, but can't use the R/R facility as he's just third in the averages (behind Jagus and Kasprzak). Rory Schlein comes back into the team, on a track on which he scored a paid ten last year.

 

A hard meeting to predict this one, but Smederna should have a good chance to salvage the aggregated bonus point...at least.

ELIT VETLANDA - VÄSTERVIK TV-Meeting

at Vetlanda Motorstadion

 

A desperate Västervik team has sixth place in the standing at the moment, as they struggle to stay in a top six position. They are at full strength and usually goes well in Vetlanda, normally they provide Elit Vetlanda with their toughest test of the season at Vetlanda Motorstadion.

 

The home side can ride a lot more relaxed, at least as they're looking at the standing, but they'll have to do it without Karol Zabik who got injured in Britain last week. Zabik (and Törnqvist) are replaced by Ales Dryml and Morten Risager, probably an equally good option around the Vetlanda track.

 

If Billy Forsberg can keep the reserve's heats close, the remainder of the meeting (from heat 12 and forward) will be a cracker, infront of the Canal+ crew.

For Elit Vetlanda,

Richardson looked slow all night but I won't slag him off, he's been good so far this season and can be allowed to have a sub-par meeting. Ljung looked fast throughout but got sloppy in the final heat. Hampel shed a chain while leading his fourth, otherwise one of his better performence of the year. Jonasson scored a paid seven and one can't expect much more against this kind of opposition. Solid. Crump is a point scoring machine, nothing more, nothing less. Dryml is a trumph card at reserve for Elit Vetlanda for sure. Risager did his fair share of the job in beating the opposition reserves.

 

For Västervik,

Pedersen had a dreadful first one, like most of the Västervik riders, but improved and deserved his score in the end. Laguta got going from his first ride on the track, but faded some towards the end. Iversen won the "Enigma of the Day" award. Awful for two heats and then rides like a World Champion after being substituted in his third. Harris actually made some gates but basically had only one good ride. Gollob blew hot and cold. Ekberg was out of depth, but this is not his kind of track. Forsberg usually goes very well in Vetlanda and even though he tried hard a couple of times, he came out with nothing.

So with 1 round to go, there's still some excitement in the Elitserien of 2008.

 

Lejonen have however secured the win and will face the 6th placed team in the quarterfinal stages, either Indianerna or Västervik.

 

It looks most likely that Dackarna and Elit Vetlanda will have the option of choosing home/away for the quarterfinal (as they'll finish 2nd and 3rd, to meet Rospiggarna and/or Piraterna.

 

Indianerna need to draw at Vetlanda to secure a Play Off place by themselves. They'll even make it if Västervik fails to win home against Piraterna. On the other hand, Västervik must win to have a chance of Play Off action. Winning the meeting but losing the bonus point (in a run-off which seems unlikely) would force Indianerna to lose all points at stake in Vetlanda for Västervik to be able to go through. Drama!

 

In the bottom, MasarnaAvesta will have to rely on Hammarby to a draw in Eskilstuna for MasarnaAvesta to avoid relegation as it looks "impossible" for them to reach all 3 points themselves against Dackarna, IF Smederna beat Hammarby who really can't go anyway in the standing and have nothing to ride for but the honour.

 

A lot of scenarios are available. On Tuesday at 21.00 we're bound to know...

Anders, if Masarna looses or only manages a draw. A win, a draw or a loss with 47-49 but victory in the race off for the bonus point will make Smederna an Elitserien team. This is because Smederna has slightly better ride point quota (won points divided by lost points = q).
