KevH
Mac rode for Swindon, Eastbourne and Cradley Heath in the late 60's/early 70's.............can anyone please tell me his date/place of birth, or at least his nationality? Zeistsport
As a kid growing up in Swindon, Mac's sister in law was my next door neighbour. I've no idea what his date of birth was but he remains a Swindon boy who's career was sadly cut short by a bad accident....
hawkeyenz
Mac rode at Eastbourne in 1971 which was my first year of watching Speedway. I remember he was described as a former Swindon junior and was certainly English. I'm pretty sure he rode at #3 in the first match I saw. He had a bad crash at Workington (I think) mid season breaking bones in his neck which was the end of his career.
johnsmithsmooth
From what I understand, Mac had been badly hurt in a motorcycle accident and told by the doctors he would never ride a bike again, so he took up speedway!!! He used to go to Swindon regularly, but not sure if he still does.

He injured his neck and was replaced for the rest of the season by a certain youngster called Trevor Geer. It's funny I still remember Mac riding like it was yesterday, but it was 1970 & 71, and I was only 10/11 years old then. I saw his photo in the 75 years of Eastbourne Speedway book and recognised him immediately. Hope he is still alive & well.

clevelandbay
Mac Woolford had a bad crash at Middlesbrough's Cleveland Park on the back straight and ended up on the wrong side of the greyhound track. It must have been with Eastbourne in 1971 but I could check my programmes for confirmation. Edited September 1, 2008 by clevelandbay
