Willie Templeton

I have just received some very bad news from Muir Templeton, that his uncle Willie is extremely unwell with cancer of the marrow and hasn't been given long to live.

He is in Ward 7, Victoria Hospital, Fife if anyone wanted to make contact.

Willie Templeton as most will know was an Edinburgh Monarch, a Glasgow Tiger and a Berwick Bandit between the early fifties and the late seventies, and was guest of honour at the Scottish VSRA dinner in February. He seemed at that time to be fit and well.

Very sad news. Along with Dougie he has always seemed a vibrant man for his age.

It's so difficult knowing what to say at this time because we know Willie sadly won't be with us much longer. I do hope he is made as comfortable as possible and that his remaining time is spent with his family and friends surrounded by love and great fondness.

That's very sad news . Willie was always more the Tiger out of the two brothers , and with him and Dougie being the uncles to the McMillan brothers - Scottish speedway had a real family feel to it when i was growing up in the seventies .

Sad news, not too well known that Willie and Doug were welcome guests in Newcastle's 1961 Provincial League team, when we were in the process of building a team from scratch.

Really sorry to hear of Willies illness. He was always a favourtie of our when he rode at Berwick. Our thoughts are with his family.
